He may have been , but Romain went airborne and gave JJ a good whack , not JJ's fault .

The last few laps were fun Chuck , no doubt .

I don't know. This is a very strong bunch of young guns. Palou, O'Ward, Herta, Veekay, Rossi, McLaughlin, & Ericsson are all drivers who still have a lot of room to grow. Most will likely get stronger as racers.

Dixon, Newgarden, Power, Hunter-Reay, Pagenaud, Bourdais, and Sato will still win some races but their glory days may be on the wane.

JJ was certainly not at fault for the contact at the corkscrew. Still JJ didn't get out of the way for Grosjean like he has for quite a number of the other front runners in recent history. I was surprised that he made it that hard for Romain to get by on the way up to the corkscrew.

I am not ready to count him out yet but at 41 yrs of age, time is not on his side. He will likely factor in the championship for a few years yet.

...and yes, he might even win another championship.

I would say it's a long shot. McLaughlin is on 286 points and Grosjean is at 266. That 20 point gap will take quite a bit to make up. Romain only gained 17 points on Scott yesterday. McLaughlin will have to have a pretty bad day and Grosjean will likely have to podium again.

Yep, I'd say baring a bad day for McLaughlin it is his. Remember, this guy has pedigree, he comes to Indy Car having had a stellar win success in the Aussie V8 series.

I think when you consider equipment and that Romain missed 1/4 of the season points wise it’s remarkable he’s still within striking distance.

I've always liked Romain, glad he seems to have found a series that he can shine in.

How many tracks are that he can jump a section like the corkscrew?

He didn't need to jump the corkscrew to pull off most of his passes.

...either at Monterey or at the other races this year.

Be interested to see if he can win races next year in Andretti equipment.

Going to be interesting to see him in the same equipment as Colton Herta and Alexander Rossi, and with the experience of having been around most of the venues once.
