That's some rough camping for sure. Did you see many people down there? Isn't Big Bend one of the least visited parks in the country? Like the opposite of Yellowstone. Just have to keep a lookout for the chupacabras.

I read all the time of ADV riders saying how great Big Bend is. I never seen one other adventure rider down there. The campgrounds were full but there isn't anyone out on the roads. maybe 2 cars at each scenic pull over. It's almost like having the whole place to yourself.
    Here is my ride report.

I have rode it several times seems like it always rains.Found its better to go to the Falling Leaf rally in October and
ride the saturday track from there. Ride the sunday track on the way home. Ride lost creek rd near Warrington Mo.
on the way down .Fun road lots of water crossings.
Has anybody got any info or dates for the Dirt Orcas ride this year ?

Solid, we wanted you to scratch the KLR, but not like that! Get well, friend.

Well, I spent the day at the Village Blacksmith, and John Kite helped me out with a ton of ongoing projects on my sidecar bike.

We finished the Vincent-styled rear license plate bracket.

I recently bought the hardware to mount the front license plate (a/k/a Pedestrian Slicer), and John used his CAD system to craft up the plate.

We welded up the holes left from the rear sidecar light replacement. The replacement light is a taillight from a Porsche 356A. Still needs work, but I like where it's headed.

My new setup removes the existing Russian ignition switch, so we fabbed a bracket for a replacement Honda ATV switch Doug at MotoSports found for me.

And lastly, he was able to modify my shifter to adapt over a Ural toe shifter onto my Dnepr shifter arm. I'm a toe shifter; heal shifting makes no sense to me. We almost just cut the back of the arm off but decided to leave it on in the end.

Other than that, my replacement R-71 tank project is coming along. It's just about ready for some last coats of carbon on the little toolbox door and then paint. Wahoo! New knee pads are on the way from Poland.

@s0lidstate you should have tipped it in the campground, we told you it would be less painful.
Hope you heal well, and found the bike.

Galen will buy you beer next time ;)

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Surgery on Friday went well as far as I can tell. I was pretty much out of it on Saturday but I'm feeling much better today. Fortunately the pain is not bad and I'm able to get around no problem. I definitely need some advice from Galen on how to tip over with style and grace and without getting injured!

    Here's my new hardware...

Not sure if my reply was clear. I have heard from Paul that it will be Saturday 20 June. It is not posted on Facebook nor the Dirt Orca website yet.

That's just a couple of aftermarket parts. They make you go faster.

You did the wiring and nothing caught on fire? You must not be using the Italian method for wiring high end sport vehicles.
