How tall are you?
Just to be clear, Traxx - I was "liking" that your back is feeling good. Not liking a painful seat or small(ish) fuel range. Rollin', i'd have a real hard time believing your bike was ever involved in a wreck. You and the bike are looking tough!
Was nice to see you again, always fun to catch up. The CTX is looking good.
I always enjoy The Slimey Crud Run and hopefully I will see you next spring.
buy the Husky street thumper you were talking about and swing by my place I will Crud Run with you on my other Honda
Thank you! The bike has a few scars but still goes down the road nice.
I did some checking around here in DFW and only 1 dealership has the tall boy for demo but no one has it in stock for purchase. I think I can demo it for up to 5 days. I will try it when I get back from sea.
If you like it, you can usually find them for a good price online. Many dealers are quite happy to get a very slow-moving part out of the back room. (Mine had a delivery date of 2016 on it.)
I just find it funny that I would meet the tall boy requirements. I am the shortest man in my Family at 5’10”, all the others are 6’ 2” +. I have always thought of myself as short.
Imagine being 5’5”. Goldwing is the first bike that I can put both feet down.
Question for any of the regular inmates in this thread...maybe even for any of the irregular inmates as well.
- Anyone here completed the Southern California Motorcycle Association (SCMA) Four Corners ride? https://sc-ma.com/rides/usa-four-corners-tour-site/usa-four-corners-tour-ride-summary/
- Anyone here completed any version of the IBA's National Parks Tour? http://www.ironbutt.com/themerides/npt/
Now the kicker...anyone here do BOTH of these?
I have questions...
I've done the National Park tour 3 times, including once in 7 days
I’m following along. Interested in the National Parks tour. But I’ve done neither.
Oooo...a National Park 48/10
Try a Sportster.
ABQ this time of year is going to be cold, its 5000 feel MSL, 0 humidity, and that is going to hold completely south into Mexico as well as north,
Note tomorrow the 33 degree low?
OKC thunderstorms are your biggest concern, though the nasty season is over. Playing in the Ozarks or heading over to catch some lower Smokeys, that way your aren't gaining real altitude. Even on I-40 I try not to be that far north after November or so, because altitude + winter = not a good time, even in a cage, and the Continental Divides are high, real high.
I've posted the same query over on the LD Riders list; a couple of good responses so far.
Essentially, a ~6700 mile ride to see four locations (We've already seen San Ysidro, CA). The NPT is 50 locations in 25 states (minimum) and you have a year to accomplish it...and whatever mileage you need to get to those states. The Silver version simulates the 4C ride by requiring locations to be grabbed in WA, ME, CA & FL.
One rider replied to me that they thought the NPT rides are the best certifications that the IBA does.
The bonus that we'll have is that it doesn't have to be done in a single three week period. So, more trips, more interesting locations.
Damn - I shoulda considered this ride as part of our tour we did last year!
kwthom, that sounds like a fantastic ride. Look forward to your planning and reporting. I want to try more of that kind of riding next year. Everyone who is fixing to head out for The Void Rally, have a great ride, see some cool stuff and stay safe.
