I don't know why Rollin was trying to punk you. I didn't see anything wrong with your posts.

That's the thing with forum posts. The lack of inflection greatly increases the probability of miscommunication and misunderstanding. No right/wrong, just oops, sorry, and move on.

Had a great time at the (Fill the) Void (RTE)... perfect weekend to hang out with other crazy people
Sometimes it’s nice to not ride all day and actually hang out

I'd like to get some clarity on the Nat'l Park Tour stamp collection process & posted a query on the topic over on the IBA's forum.

If you have two minutes of time to kill, have a look and tell me what you think. Thanks!

Wish I had known that was happening--I would have gone. I'm guessing it was announced on FB and I'm not very good at keeping up with social media.

    Hello enablers,

It is time for me to start planning my winter solstice ride. If it is unseasonably warm, I'll start from the north shore of Lake Superior. Experience tells me, I'll have to trailer down south to get out of the snow. I am looking for southerly ride suggestions of the SS1K variety.

General outline is Dec. 20th trailer down to the start of ride. Ride the SS1K on the 21st. Be home on the 23rd.

For the Spring Equinox ride departure temperature was 30 with a high in the 50s. Looking for a similar temperature.

    Looking forward to your suggestions.

Five months in, and we're over 50 stamps collected, but still need a couple of states to get the > 25 tally in that column. We've spent a couple of days this past weekend sweeping up the plentiful stamps here in northern Arizona. Yes, in mid-November.

Yes, it was cold when we hit the road yesterday morning. Around 30°F / -1°C when we left Flagstaff yesterday, down to as low as 24°F / -4°C while wandering back to the desert through the mountains. Five hours and a few thousand feet of elevation shed, the thermometer was 84°F / 29°C. That might be a good candidate for greatest temperature span on a motorcycle ride for me. It easily is a record for my wife; she doesn't tolerate the cold too well.

There's still about four stamps that are 'close to home' - like, a day-ride would get the needed spares (I figure a 10% overage should be satisfactory). Additionally, three adjacent states are left to collect (CA, NM, TX).

So, one more overnight loop snags TX and NM, one long day-ride would get CA, and the final stamp I want to get is the closest one to us, which is a mere eight miles to a Nat'l Park, just on the western side of the mountains I can see (barely) out my office window.

    Highly recommended!

Just in case you missed it, here’s Hopper’s Spotwalla for his 100k/100 ride.

I can’t even imagine knocking out 100,000 miles in 100 days. I’m impressed.

It'll wait until Spring at this point. I don't have any more weekends without crap scheduled until after the holidays. Bikes are in sleep mode. I may slip in a short ride or commute, but nothing of substance, probably until March. I'm hoping for JAX, as I missed it last year.
