I personally think the 990 is ... touchy ... even for FI - or at least it was .. It felt waaaaaaay to tall and throttle response seemed notchy and at slower speeds it wasn't easy to find the sweet spot.... It was same even when I varied my start up procedures.. Start and ide it slow and easy till operating temp, or waiting till operation temp - then ride. I hadn't planned to farkle past bags - but the freaking thing melted my plastic zipper teeth on my stich... It was NOT on the exhaust, but like 8 inches away.... Damnnnn those fuckers are hot... Anyway, it's not got FMF exhaust - been regeared with a 16T sprocket - and it has the block off plates on it to bypass the emissions crap... HOLY SWEET JESUS, it's a entirely different bike now... It's easy to find the sweet spot - it's not so tall as to be gutless at slow speeds and the throttle is no longer NOTCHY.. It's a whole nother beast now and I love it..
