Does anyone know Cottonwood pass is open all the way from Buena Vista to Taylor park lake?

Im pretty sure they finished paving the east side of the pass, but I can't find any information about the west side down to the lake.

    Thanks.

Cottonwood is closed until at least August 12th and then still have some delays do to. Ongoing construction and paving.

However as of the 4th of July Cumberland Pass is open to traffic ( that allows for an easy pass out of Taylor Park).

Can I use Hancock to pull my forty foot camper to Taylor park from BV....with my two-wheel drive, bald-tired Texas plated, Corolla? Or should I bring my Civic instead?

    I kid, I kid!

The east side of Cottonwood has been paved since before I moved to CO 20 yrs ago.
The west side is as cidi says....under construction and delayed due to an epic snowfall year.

No info regarding Hancock, so I am considering it closed due to snow - UPDATE.. called Salida Ranger District. Hancock is closed due to Snow and Avalanches from the Gunnison site.
Update for Tincup from the Bushducks site: 7/6/19 - From St Elmo the trail is open to the second switchback above tree line. Too much snow to get over the pass. The avalanche is two miles up from St Elmo and what a sight !!

How comfortable are you on the DR650? Dirt roads, double track, single track?
You riding alone or with someone else?

I think @kennyanc should answer that for me. Double track is fine, single track depends...

Lots of good dirt road/2-track riding just south of Gunnison. Off-pavement routes abound throughout the Gunnison and Rio Grande national forests—check out the official MVUMs. I don't know what sort of condition things are in this year (water crossings might be deeper than usual) but here's one of my favorite routes from that area: https://goo.gl/maps/K38syBYauKmkWy749.

Just called and it is open with controlled traffic on the entire west side, not just the construction area. No estimate on how long restrictions will be in place.

The DR gives ya proper range to get around , assuming ya don't run full knobs?. I'd suggest some exploration in Hartman Rocks, a combo of single track stoke (some more DR friendly than others), 2 two track, and just dirt roads. Good for a day of exploration.

Second suggestion would be a ride to Taylor Park - thank me later! Via Alltomt and you could even make a loop of it back through Pitkin via Tin Cup - stop for a milk shake.
Although the vid shows the single track stoke there are plenty of side by side type trails to explore including a trip up to The Flag.

Third suggestion would be Crested Butte. Again plenty to explore up on Gothic and Washington gulch that are DR friendly. Take a ride up Schofield and even drop down to see the mill and into town for some BBQ.
