Hey guys and gals, I will be in Mexico the end of the month through July 4 for work. I will have a couple of down days to explore Monterrey and one down day in Tijuana. I will be in Guadalajara for 3 days, but only have evenings.

I am looking for recommendations for places to see if the collective is amendable.

    Thanks

Fully gated with 3 homes inside the compound. Wonderful family that lives there hired to look after the grounds. In fact the father loved my bike so much we spent 3 hours cleaning it one day. It was an awesome place. I did stay there back in November and it wasn't busy so I'm sure that's a low season rate.

    Hey Going South,
3 years ago I was in San Blas in July. Nice hotel but very hot and lots of mosquitos. On my way between Banamichi and Mazatlan I usually stay in Navojoa because I’m doing the miles, Getting South. I stayed in Alamos and El Fuerte in the past. Mocorito looks interesting, I will check it out. Also, Chrintzio looks cool. I like Morelia and plan to stay there at least one night.

Any suggestions for Mazatlan hotels. I’ve stayed at the Belmar and the Melville.....Maybe I’ll try La Siesta, Is it still a good choice?

    Thanks!

La Siesta has gone "up scale" $$$ I use to stay there but now go down the street to the Belmar . The good coffee shop is down stairs on the street . Easy to have a cup roll out and rack up the K's .

    Hey Massiveuniball,

Thanks for the suggestions. The container hotel sounds cool. Is it on the north side of lake Chapala? I was planning to ride along the south side, but maybe I’ll change the plan.

Thanks for mentioning Hotel Casa Jose Maria. I saw it last time I was in Morelia, but never stayed there. I was in Patzcuaro many years ago..... might be time for a return visit.

I don't have any specific recommendations for TJ, but eat as much as you can, it has quickly become a world renowned foodie destination.

    Hey Ricard,
Navojoa is usually my doing the miles stoping point also, it's just to convenient. I was going to say La Siesta and then saw what Maxvert said, I have seen them fixing the place up, but if you've stayed at the Melville you can afford the La Siesta.
From what I've been hearing though, is Belmar is kinda 50/50 upscale nice and casual lowbrow... don't know though.
Lots of new construction going on in centro, I'll give it a look see and get back to you all..

First time I've ever heard "Belmar" and "upscale" in the same sentence...lol. Having said that, the Belmar has been steadily being upgraded but there are still unrenevated low budget rooms available and from my point of view, it's one of the best locations for basing out of.
