Oct-Nov, Mar-Apr are ideal for Copper Canyon.

Tucson probably the closest. Bisbee and Douglas airports got small runways.

Yes, I knew the account number on the ATM card. However, they could not confirm that the card belonged to me.

And we did CC in August, not ideal, and the rivers were too fast to cross, but still an excellent trip.
Do to work and family schedule conflicts, August was the only time my adult Son, and I could both get there, so we made the best of it.
While the river crossings in the Cayon were impossible, even for large trucks and tractors, we never got any rain during the day, and everything was lush and green.

The other good news when travelling in August is there is little (early morning) traffic at the border and the Customs and Immigration Terminal (TVIP) at Kilometer 20.

    On a different note...

Headed to Mexico in September for plastic surgery, specifically eyelid surgery.

By the time I’m done I’ll spend 1/2 of what I was quoted in the US including flights, hotel, meals and surgery.

    Just saw this one:

    https://khn.org/news/to-save-money-american-patients-and-surgeons-meet-in-cancun/

I’ve needed my eyelids done for years. Eyes are always tired from the weight of the extra skin there. Might get a brow lift too as my eyebrows have slowly migrated 3/4 the way into the socket area. If getting that done as well will keep my eyes from needing another surgery down the line I’ll do it.

Nothing the doc can do will make me any better looking. :uhoh

    Thanks!

I’ll do a whole write up on it afterwards in Inmates. I’m sure others might be interested.

Living in AZ now I’m told just south of Yuma is ‘dental central’. Going to try that later this year as well.

    I love Mexico!

Cancún has good, cheap dentistry also ! Flights, all inclusive for a week and dental work cheaper than just the work in the US!

We go to PV every year. Friends of ours are moving there and have a house under contract (lucky them!). I’m sure they’ll soon have a dentist there for us to see as well.

Heya @Misery Goat and fans of the Copper Canyon

I'm a Patreon supporter of YouTuber Ryan Van Duzer, and in addition to connecting with him on Nepal and RAGBRAI, he's done a really good series on running the Copper Canyon Ultra based out of Urique. Ryan's a down to earth, no BS vlogger, and I'm sure you'll enjoy his work. Also, if you're interested in making your own travel videos/video memories, you'll gain a lot from his style.

Lot's of unique shots/drone footage of one of the most beautiful places on earth. Check the series out.

We went to CC this past March. For almost 2 weeks. The weather was perfect. It was chilly on top of the mountains and hot in the valleys. We had one day of all day rain. That resulted in 4+” of snow on top of the mountains. As we got over 7000’, I usually clicked my heated grips on. When we hit the valleys, I was taking my jacket off or hiding in the shade.

Hey folks - I'm heading south again.
I have crossed in the past at Larado and El Paso, but this trip am thinking of crossing at Raynosa or Matamoros
I don't know anything about those sites. Can anybody offer me a little advice?

    THANKS! :beer

I hear that I stick my $gringos in so many places sometimes I don't find some of it until back from my trip and doing maintenance on the bike . I should make a list .

Have you tried duct tape ?
Seriously I have a friend who lives full time in Mazatlan who flew his cardio surgeon and team up from
    Guadalajara for a triple bypass . $ 30,000 K . He got a personal trainer and now a few years later he's
ripped . He has nothing but positive things to say about whole experience .
The obvious question is why didn't he go to Guad for the surgery . He's flush with Canuckastanian Pesos
and seems like the military hospital in Maz. is excellent .
