I don't know which one of the above I am, but I just agreed to buy back my first GS, a 1990 R100GS. For some stupid reason I decided to sell it in 2005 and regretted it ever since. Even a 80G/S and a 100GSPD could not fill the gap and did both come and go.
Luckily i sold the 100GS to a nephew who did ride it a lot at the begining but then parked after 1,5-2 years, under a carport (nothing more then a roof and 2 walls) near to the sea after a winter in which they put salt on the roads to keep them clear..
So this weekend I got a mail if I would be interested in getting it back. Sure I was, untill the pics came. I saw the pics and cried a little about my dear old GS which was in good (but not great) shape when I sold it. Thought about it for 2 minutes and let my heart speak and decided I'll go ahead and try to rescue it. So, al low but upright offer was made (forget about the $ per cc rule, that would have been way to much for this one...) and luckly he agreed.
Next up is selling the NX250 and a lot ofs pare parts in order to make my pockets deep enough to ever get this one on the road again.

So, let's have a look at the pics of the tour around it he sent me and shiver :rof
Click = large version for who dares haha.

Could be far worse! Additionally you have an attachement to the machine, so you won't have to search for motivation. Post a lot of pictures while you work!

It's going to be a job just to evict all the spiders! Good luck and be kind to the bike this time around.

Your nephew has qualified for a "physical comment" on running down the bike like that. It will need a lot of work and money to bring it back on the road. Rust protection is not good at all at BMW. I think the brakes, suspension and wheels (spokes!) may become a real problem.

Well, on the plus side, it looks like he included some tinder in the bucket, in case you want to burn a pile of cash just to get in the mood... (just kidding, looks like most of mine when I started)

I know you are a braver man than I am. But you do realize I hope, we have seen worse. I think that one is going to clean up nicely.

Don't be too hard on the nephew. Appreciation of these things comes later in life.

Are brave and dumb necessarily mutually exclusive?!:D

This is a unique case where you may be able to actually post some before-before pics!

So which Cheek are you going to kick on that nephew of yours?
I'd at minimum have a serious words. Family is a close bond of people who should know better.
Good luck with the bikeĀ… Make it proud again.

Here you go, I found the before-before and even the before-before-before pics :D

Before-before is how I sold it, before-before-before is how I actually rode it most of the time with the Heinrich tank and some other extra's.
