Monterey car week is almost overload. The events leading up to the races are equally impressive, but the racing is superb. There are a lot of very wealthy people in attendance, most with support teams of mechanics and 18-wheeler double decker transporters. Its hard to focus when you're surrounded by GTOs, 904s, Listers, and Aston Martins.

I went three years running and loved every minute. Sadly, I'm on the wrong coast now. :becca

I asked a guy at a vintage race at Road Atlanta many years ago who was driving one of the old pontoon style Testa Rossas from the 1950's if he was worried about bending it. His response was - you know, it's hard to do more than $100,000 worth of damage to a car....

This was back when they were worth maybe $125,000...

This shop is a mile from my house. I worked on the car next to it last week

I drove one of these, an OTAS 820 in high school. Road & Track famously reported that it couldn’t pull the skin off chocolate pudding. Every day was an adventure.

This is just for laughs, no agenda here. The Italian take on crash safety, circa 1966, including some odd experiments with disturbingly realistic crash dummies a little over 4 minutes in.
