I haven't decided if I'm going this year, a number of other rides planned. The last couple of years have been fun. One year on my TE450 the next on my 650 Dakar. Actually the Dakar was more fun. Slower pace and self sufficient, rode to the start, did the ride, and rode home. No sag wagon needed. Plus watching the big trailies on single track was a hoot.

Anyway, who's planning to ride it this year and what are you riding?

    Hey Dean!

I am hoping to, on the R80G/S.

I might not be in CA that weekend, but if I am, I am going.

PS: I JUST came to the West forum this minute to see if anyone had posted about the Sheetiron!

I did that the last two times I rode it...

Get off work in Mendocino Friday, ride to Stoneyford, camp, get up, ride to FB, stay at my house after a pint with the gang, ride back to Stoneyford, ride home.

Fun! Ran into (not really, stopped in time) a damn big bear coming back the last time.

I rode the Lost Coast D/S ride last year. It was pretty cool. Anybody done both this and the S.I? If so, were the hard splits about the same, technically?

I'll be there, taking the easy splits on my R12GSA.
I'll try not to hold anyone up.

Entry is ready to be mailed - I'm going to do it on my
WR250R and give the hard splits a go.

My plan is to drive up and camp at Stonyford on Friday
and then overnight Saturday in Fort Bragg at a motel.

I'm also doing the annual Cal Poly Penguin Hi-mountain
DS ride next month down in San Luis Obispo. That should
    be a fun ride also!

I just checked their website and see nothing on the calendar for this year. Do you think they're only inviting people who've ridden the event last year?

The dual sport page is misleading - it's labeled 2008.

Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the links for the 2009 Entry Form
    and Risk Agreement Form.:D

I see Larry Boy tried last year on a side car rig but didnt get to finish. The wife and i are thinking about doing it BUT she wants to ride her 2wd Ural and ill ride my scooter. Will the Side Car fit all the way through? I see this years route is new. It would be fun to ride with her as a two bike team. What do you think Dean?

Yeah, we crashed out before we even got started.

I've ridden the old easy route before and it was easily done on a sidecar. Last year I heard there was some snow that took out the easy section on day one and put everybody on the hard section for awhile...that wouldn't have worked for the sidecar. Hard to say about this years route? Some of the old timers in the OMC didn't like the sidecar idea, but I think if you were prepared with some maps and GPS so you could re-route yourself you'd be fine.
