We just returned from riding the James Bay Road. As there isn’t much info on the road conditions, so here it is. The road surface has frost heaves and some pot holes. The biggest challenge is the 50 mile of pavement that has been removed for construction. Most of this surface is not bad. About 5 miles of it was overlayed with 4-5” of loose stone. The stone has no sand or smaller stone it it. This would be very nasty if you are not set up to stand up on the pegs. We saw only dual sport motorcycles this far north. I would not attempt this on a regular motorcycle, but maybe you are a better rider than I. I had considered riding this road in the past with a sport tourer....for me, this would have been a mistake due to the surface and remoteness.
