You want to go from Toronto, with its many Covid cases, to visit remote, northern, First Nations communities which, historically have suffered significant population reduction from alien diseases brought from distant places by outsiders .................................Hmmm, let's think about that.

I'm as eager as the next guy to head up that way. Like you, I've been up that way before (five or six times at last count), but I won't at the moment. Next year, maybe.

A friend tried to book something about 2 weeks ago and was told that the road over to James Bay (through the Cree area?) was not open but you could get to Radisson. Kind of seems pointless if you can't get over, I think he called the hotel in Radisson but not positive.

    Here's some relatively up-to-date info:

I'd think you can travel up the JBR to Radisson. But no side trips to any of the Cree communities along the actual James Bay. I'd think the Trans-Taiga would be good to go, but call Pourvoirie Mirage to get a proper status update.

Seems like lots of road construction on the JBR past Matagami. If so, that could be a suck of a ride. A few long stretches of one way, escorted traffic. Not fun.

If you don't do the Trans-Taiga, why bother? Radisson is interesting for about 3.7 minutes.
