    hey,
I have an 07 1200 GSA with factory exhaust.. i'm considering on having Jet Hot, coat the headers.
I was looking for feedback of peolpe who had it done.

My options are the grey/satin or polished / grey. I was wandering how iether would hold up?

Plus can you send them muffler portion of the pipe also, so the coating color would be the same all the way up to the muffler?

Any and all pictures would be awesome !!!!

I'll do mine this coming fall after it gets cold. I'll go with the coating that most closely resembles chrome.

I suspect it will outlast the factory plating by a long margin.

Should you move ahead with it, please post photos and your experience.

They did good work at the Phoenix shop on my '99 1100GS exhaust (pipes, clamp, and catalytic converter). I had them do the satin silver finish which is a pretty close match for my aluminum Remus muffler. It looks great and hasn't discolored or changed one bit since it was done about a year/6,000 miles ago.

I'll be following this thread too 'cus my just-acquired 2001 R1150GS with 20.3K miles had crusty-rusty deposits on top surfaces of headers and balance pipe. I scrubbed with Scotchbrite green and WD-40 which removed most of that, but some chrome-over-stainless is now gone where rust was before.
Also interested in budgetary total cost to help me determine if fea$ible... :lurk

I have jet-hot coated several exhausts on both car & motorcycles (but not the GS yet)......they are the best hands down. I will probably do the header on my GS.

I contacted Jet Hot in SC (closest facility to me) with photos of my pipes. They quoted $200.00 for the Extreme 1300 Polished coating.

Also there was a $50.00 separate charge for stripping the existing plating (apparently, the copper must be removed). Add about $25.00 for shipping one way and you've got a good estimate of the total. Also, I believe they warrant their work for lifetime.

My pipes were $165/$20 shipping (I dropped them off and they returned them by UPS). They looked so good that the cat looked BAD, so I did the same thing for the cat and clamp at $118 and $30 shipping.

Bottom line, the coating job itself from cylinders to muffler was $283. I don't have a host for pictures or I'd post some.

Had my '04 ADV done in satin silver. Held up pretty well. Bike went to
Prudhoe with a different owner, not sure how it handled the sodium chloride
    in Alaska.

    Django recommended Imgur.com as a photo host...neat!

Here's a pic of my Jet Hot "Extreme Sterling Polished" exhaust system...not satin finish as I said previously.

Wow! I'm really impressed at how good that looks!!

I know from another thread where that dude Marc from Australia had his done in black. He was warned that the black was actually the weakest of the choices and most likely the one to chip. It was not recommended but since he was going for a 'blacked out bike' he went for it, obviously.

They may have been polished, it's been a while since they were done by Jet Hot - 2007. But you can see what they look like with about 25K on them.

Sorry, I can't remember better. CRS kicking in....

I do know that when I restored my R1100S I went with the polished because I had a Staintune on the bike.

    texasmule,
    that looks sweet !!!

im thinking i better go with satin finish being there isnt alot of shiny or chrome on my adventure.

im thinking the satin may match the valve covers.

i called jey hot today. they quoted me $215.00 for the header,,,,, for iether satin or polished + $45.00 shipping back.

    thanks frankie

Jet-Hot coating on my GSA---right after I had it done....

My prior 12GS with Jet-Hot coating after about 10K miles...As you can see, it lost a little of its "chrome" look but I'm told I could have polished it and it would come back. Never bothered me.....
