No kidding! I was here visiting in August and thought I might have made a mistake about moving here...

Wait until we get the first snow flurries here this winter. Sanding trucks will be out in full force, schools will close, and people will swarm the grocery stores buying bread and milk.

Look up Two Wheeled Texans (twtex.com) - there's a Big Bend ride every year that's not to be missed (plus a whole host of other stuff)

Good plan, but remember people really can't drive in it here. If you are in the metromess, you will have trouble getting out. I go for a ride every time we get a snow day, but I live northwest of the metromess and off the main roads.

If it's just snow you'll be in good shape. Watch out for those occasional ice storms, though. Those are no joke and only the truly touched think they can actually drive/ride safely in those conditions. On the bright side things usually clear out in 24-48 hours. This is really a pretty decent place to be in winter other than those few short-lived winter events we get.

Went out to Wild Acre Brewing and Joe Riskys bbq on Sat for a little Overland gathering. Gonna be more regular thing in the spring. Watch for updates.

(Yes, that risky family, and his bbq is way better than the stuff downtown or on the west side)

Which Riskys did you go to? I think the original location on Azle ave is best, but have limited hours.. I need to go to Wild Acre, We usually wind up at Rahr or Martin House..

Might be headed to the International Motorcycle Show in Dallas this weekend. Looking for recommendations on a safe place to stay on the eastern side of Dallas.
    Thanks

From your area I would follow 2 lanes roads like 4 and 84 across and plan on staying somewhere around Kaufman. Dallas is crazy, get in and get out.

Joe Risky (the son) setup shop at Wild Acre to get away from mass manufacturing of bbq. Its legit and a cool place to hang out 20191207_123045.jpg 20191207_125755.jpg 20191207_133714.jpg 20191207_133426.jpg

Hello everyone! recent transplant from Salt Lake City. I'm up in Richardson, just looking to find decent pavement/gravel roads to ride my DR650 on, as well as recommendations for shops that are good and etc. Thanks in advance!
