I'm organizing three IBA Rides all starting on Saturday June 20th , 2020 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

To learn more, goto : IBA Trifecta

If you have any questions, please post them. Thanks.

EDIT: ( 3-20-2020 ) Because of the COVID-19 Virus, and the closure of the U.S. & Canada border, it looks like the Lake Superior SS1K and Ontario - Yooper SS1K rides probably won't be done since June 20th is only 3 months away.

But if the border is re-opened before then, all three rides will be run.

The All Yooperland SS1K ride will be run, either way

BTW, if by chance you have been convicted of any felony or DUI ( within 10 years ) you probably will not be allowed to enter Canada on two of the rides. That will still leave you the option of the third ride !!

    Awesome Jim!
When you alluded to this in another thread, I marked my calendar. There you only mentioned the Ontario/Michigan ride, but I'm glad to see a Lake Superior option. I'm more interested in that TBH.

Very good Jim. I will ask my son if he wants to do a Lake Superior gig.

I think the Canada - U.P. ride will be a nice ride for those Riders who have already done a Lake Superior or All Yooperland ride.

Adrian from Huntsville, Ontario told me he will be assisting the Riders on the Canada - U.P. Loop Ride , so that makes about 6 replies already.

Rich & I are talking about not doing the entire Canada - U.P. Loop, but meeting the Riders in Thessalon and doing the rest of the Canada Loop with them. I need to be back in the Soo to check the Riders in at the finish.

It's a little early to commit, but a coworker and I are wanting to do the Lake Superior ride.

I'll see you in June. Most likely around Superior, unless I get that ride in before then.

Nice looking rides! The 2017 Lake Superior Saddle Sore Iron Butt was one of the toughest rides I've ever done on a motorcycle. Hopefully there will be less rain in 2020. The Ontario-Michigan SS1K road Ontario Highway 129 north of Wharncliffe to south of Highway 556 along the Mississagi River is real hoot with twisties and sweepers. One of my favorite roads in the region.

Jim, any plans to do a Lake Huron Saddle Sore in 2020?

I have done Lake Michigan and the lower great lakes with aspirations to complete the series with Superior and Huron, and eventually the whole big circle. I stole @IBAJIM's Lake Michigan plans (slightly modified for myself, but largely following that route) since I couldn't make his date for it. I haven't seen an IBAJIM Huron plan to steal yet, that would be awesome.

Part of me was hoping to make the Trifecta and do a SS2K, tackling Huron solo after Superior with the group, but I'm not sure how feasible that is. :dunno

Mark and Steve ( both from northern Indiana ) are planning on doing a Lake Huron SS1K next year. Maybe you could join them.

I'm torn on this one - I've been as far around Lake Superior as Thunder Bay, but that was on a 5 day relaxing ride with my now wife and another couple. Completing that ride looks to be fun, but I keep hearing that it's rather difficult. I know rain was mentioned, but isn't it also made longer by the lower speed limits in Canada?

The all Yooper one looks pretty interesting, too. Taking the required pics is a new wrinkle for me, but certainly doable.

If you look at the "Plan" for each ride, the All Yooperland ride Plan takes about 20 minutes longer than the Lake Superior ride Plan. The Plans are conservative. A lot of Riders on either ride will finish sooner than the plan and a few may take longer.

Trevor & I started the All Yooperland ride this year at about 6:15 am and we finished at about 3:15 am , but we had longer stops for lunch & dinner than a lot of the other Riders. So if we had a quicker lunch & dinner, we probably would have beat the Plan time by about 45 minutes. All three of the rides will take quite a bit longer than an all slab SS1K, but you will be riding through some beautiful country off the slab.

Lake Superior is a great IBA ride. The navigation part is easy, just keep the lake on your left :rofl
Seriously, as to the speeds we set the cruise about 10 over and did not have any issue with the OPP. Traffic was light on the north shore of the lake. Gas stops were convenient and on route and you only needed gas receipts.
The weather can make or break any ride. From the Soo all the way till Duluth the weather was great. From Wakefield to the Finish was nasty for my group of three riders with stock lights in heavy rain.
