someone said “party” ?
Which one did you get? I like the Low-pitch myself.
the lager... pretty much everybody likes that one (especially me ).
oh and say hello to WTF250.2.
The old one had a base gasket leak so I replaced it with this very clean one (tagged as well)
Well, it is your birthday after all. You should have what you like!
Too a few days off and finally rode the Smokey Mountain 500 with @kennyanc and @BUGSMACK a couple of weeks ago.
We also had a "support van" so I grabbed my fancy camping set-up, knowing I don't have to ride around with that after we meet up in Bryson City.
Day 1: Bryson City - Tellico Plains, NC
Video link - Witt Road, Kenny
me on Witt Road - not pretty, but I made it
and then this happened... but I am going to have a beer and tacos first before I get into details...
Looks like a great ride.
like a sheep following the other: I followed Kenny's line.... till my bike died in the middle of the creek. It may was a tad deep - end I ended up pushing it out and checking airbox, boot, head. I had some wate in the airbox, but no standing water in the boot and no water blowing when turning it over w/p spark-plugs. Oil is fine, it fired right up - lucky me.
I did have some more successful water crossings though - and thanks to CMT awesome boot driers, I started off day 2 with dry boots and sucks. Not for long though.
washed out culvert video (no road crew, no detour )
so yes, it rained, but still it was a fantastic ride, beautiful and almost eerie riding in the fog/clouds, wind and rain at times.
day 2 stop: TWO of Suches
Anyone headed to BRMC for the Guzzi thing? Hopefully I can make it both ways this year with the same clutch.
Shoot! Forgot that's coming up already.
I am hoping to take the hack (if I get the gremlins sorted) and drop by for the afternoon. If it's not running, I can always take the little one.
If you bring the hack, one of those beasts can accompany you.
Looks like a good time!
yep. just a bunch old Geezers
This weekend was also a Concours gathering at BRMC, and as always an assortment of machinery showed up. I missed getting pictures of the Asheville crew, dammit.
The usual lunch ride to Hot Springs was perfect.
This Russian gentleman needed a 200 rear tire in a bad way Saturday afternoon:
Folks pitched in and they got er done without a tire machine, in the dark using a lot of big zip ties:
looks like a great turnout under the circumstances... bummer
I did the mistake of taking a nap after getting the hack into the shop and going out for lunch.... nap-roulette failed . And then the little guzzi turned out to be totally dead too. So yeah, no goose no goose-rally. Hope to see you in October at notta.
I just realized I am way behind and didn't post the last day of the SM500
LINK to vids and more pics...
cant't wait to do it again. @kennyanc and @BUGSMAK are great riding companions!
oh and more things happened:
sold the montesa
and Rick's Funduro went back to his family - Jim picked it up
more to come..... in a few weeks.
And maybe a new bike... fly and ride,
out west.... maybe
I guess I should do my little ride report.....
A few weeks ago at work I just felt like I needed to get away - badly . So I requested time off in one week out. That was a Friday afternoon, Friday night I used @Drif10 's reasoning and expertise to narrow down possible bikes for a fly and ride.
Long story short, I bought a bike the next day, booked a flight for the coming Thursday evening and kept waiting on the approval for my vacation (I know that's the wrong order but what the heck )
prep work - SAE plug for my GPS (that way all I had to do is install and SAE connector to the battery)
Flight to Denver... score!
Thursday night after a bus ride to Colorado Springs:
9260 miles, luggage, heated grips, skid plate, crash bars, throttle stabilizer
