Kavemans Backroads Dual Sport Adventure Ride 2020 date is set. June 27/28 2020 in Oblong IL. South/Eastern IL. I moved it out one more weekend because Fathers Day is on the 21st this year.

The 4th Kavemans Backroads Dual Sport Adventure Ride is in the planning stages.
This will be a Dual Sport Adventure ride, RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK, whenever you want, find your own way, provide your own stuff, no costs, with absolutely no organization.

Like the 2017, 18 and 19 ride, the beginning and end of each day will be at the Oblong City park.
I will post more info about the ride as I get time and will have details for the GPS tracks and Knobby sections.

Saturday will be a little longer than Sunday and both days will have lots of gravel roads with optional Knobby sections. Saturday and Sunday will be at or close to 200 miles with the furthest between gas stations at around 75 miles. All the main GPS tracks will be big bike friendly. I may also have a shorter Friday track for the folks that get there early. It will also be mostly gravel.

There will be a GPS/GPX file posted for you to download and follow around a month or so before the ride date. If you don't have a GPS there are smart phone apps you can use like Rever or MotionX that work very well. I don't use these but I know people that do and it works. If it is dusty riding follow the leader with more than 3 or 4 people could be miserable. I would suggest getting familiar with a GPS or one of these apps to make sure your ride is the best it can be.

For those who want to camp, there is a camp ground at the Oblong city park where the tracks will start and end with a dozen or so pull through hookup sites ( electric and water only ) and a bunch of room for tent camping. The camp ground has a shower house and bathrooms. The payment is on the honor system, $10 per night at a drop slot at the bathrooms. They do not take reservations.

Here is Camping and Hotel info.
    Oblong City Park camping,
This is where the tracks Start/End on both days. First come first serve on electric/water hookups. Open tent camping is available with plenty of room and several shaded spots.
    Cabins,
Kibbie cabins are about 8 miles North of Oblong. They have a few very nice cabins in a very rural setting on a good ole gravel road. (618) 562-6790 upload_2019-12-4_10-34-54.png
    Hotels,
The closest hotels are in Robinson about 8 miles East of Oblong on Rt 33.

Sounds great K-man! Will be bringing a "john boat" also for your "water routes"!!!!!!
Seriously, what is the odds of three straight years of floods for this event???

Note to self: Pre ride "Kaveman 2020" tracks just in case.

    It's on my calendar!
    Always a good time!

I would imagine the rest of our motley crew will be there as well.
I think Brewski has a new battery for his ship to shore rig. I hope he dont need it :D

    Hi Kevin,
Nice video..............miss seeing your smiling face------------well, everybody's for that matter.

    Didn't know you were riding a 450 Honda now-------or I forgot-----------yeh-----that's what happened I forgot.:lol3
Looks like your handling that beast just fine--------------me not so much-------it kicked my ass on a test ride.
    But I'm old.

Do you know if the Oblong city park is open now.

    Most campgrounds closed around me.

    Thanks

It is a good bike for me doing this stuff I really like it.

Hopefully it won’t be long and we will all see one another out riding.

I sent a message to the mayor of Oblong to see if it’s open.

Per the Mayor of Oblong. Teresa K. Fielder.

”Hi Kevin-yes the park is open but per IDPH we had to lock the shower house & public restrooms $10 per night camping“

With restrooms being closed at the city park, does this event become a BYOB (bring your own bucket) event?

Also with the past couple events, will any of this riding be above the "500 year" flood plain? I may need to order a set of those new "floatation tires"
    for the XRL!

I wish you luck with the weather and this virus crap that is going around so this event happens.
