Hope they get the motor right on this one... the 2007 Versys had a horrible vibration from motor up right side of bike.

So, V-Strom 250 and G310GS are now pointless.

It's true this may well be a "beginner" or "starter" ADV bike. However, I think it is more likely an indicator that the "age of dinosaurs" (overly large, heavy ADV bikes) is beginning to come to an end. Beginners and seasoned riders alike are seeing the value in smaller displacement, lighter offerings - modify as required. Perhaps manufacturers are realizing too much investment in big bikes when an aging population will be looking for smaller displacement options is not a solid plan for the future. I like this Kawi.

Good point. I'd add that this is a perfect second or third bike that'd double as a RTW bike. I'm leaning away from looking at DR650s as a second do-it-all bike to compliment my Strom and putting the cash down on one of these. At least for now. If only I didn't hate Kawi green and have a gray Vstrom. Color variety would be nice, but not a deal breaker!:D

Nice looking Bike. As mention on the first page it does look like a 500x, only better. if it were 500cc I might go for it.

Good one Kawasaki. Had two ninja 250s, they were good bikes if you just wanted to ride at only lose your licence speeds rather than go to jail speed, so this will be fine, maybe keep a sportsbike as well. If it comes at near the Ninja 300 price I don't care if I break it as much.

I might be able to buy 3 for the price of a 1200 GS.

    Been waiting for this.

    I was waiting for a successor/replacement of the KLX250S (final edition) in Kawasaki’s line-up.

Wow! This Versys-X 300 looks like the deal. Some modest weight shaving, pushing that luggage rack forward over the pillion seat, probably a bit of suspension tweaking and finally a set of 70/30 knobbies and I will be a happy guy.

Kawa, I’m on my way… I’ll be the one licking the showroom window until it shows up!

Don't care for the low exhaust, but I'm sure that will have some options. They might really kill with this bike, looking forward to future long term reviews and abuse.

Not me. 300cc means my soon to be 14 y/o son can't legally ride it, as he's limited to a 250cc until he is 16.

I agree, and I dare say that this is effectively the 2017 replacement for the ancient KLR650 - goodness knows they need to pension that bike off now...

This new bike is a similar size, similar power, lighter and more fuel efficient. It's also likely to sell for the same price as the current KLR, and as others have already said, the looks are going to seal the deal too!

Top work Kawasaki - 300 is the new 650!

IMHO to fix 650 Versys they would need a 19" front wheel and longer swing arm which they have on Vulcan 650, but that may screw up handling.

Biggest issues with Versys are sport bike wheelbase which makes it useless as 2up machine and lack of 50/50 17" tires.
