Still too much snow to go much of anywhere from home. My 200EXC still has ice tires on. Pesky work is getting in the way of the kind of riding and wrenching sessions I like.

It definitely gives up some ‘tractor factor’ that the stock set up had for ‘the hit’. Need to play with the air screw as recommended by RB. Shooting hills in the gravel pit was entertaining tonight.

Just picked up a 91 200, but the power valve actuator arm thingy is missing and I can't seem to find one anywhere (surprisingly looks like everything else for the PV is there and in good condition).

Thinking about just blanking the PV off and selling it on.

Yeah for sure. Have you ridden a 220? Along with a bigger piston, it has a smaller bore carburetor. It's a totally different bike. Lots of low end grunt. I really prefer a 220 for woods riding, it's super easy to loft the front wheel over logs with just the throttle.

I like both... modded 200 and more stock-ish 220. Both are fun in different ways.

Rode a 220 before but it was kinda roached out. Not a fair comparison. All I have in the quiver to compare to is a KTM 200 EXC. Trails will soon melt out, then I’ll get a mate to come along and ride them side by side for shits and giggles.
    Peace

I had a 2001 200EXC, it felt more like a race bike, with the KDX200 being more of a woods bike. The Pumpkin ran harder than the KDX but the KDX had more user friendly power. The 300EXC was a BLAST, I loved it so much I upgraded to a nearly new Beta 300. You just can't make a 200 2 stroke run like a 300 2 stroke! It's the ultimate engine IMO. Perfect balance of light weight and high power, and even grunts like a 4 stroke.

My KDX was a birthday present from Mrs. Piston ten years ago. This winter was the first time the engine was apart ever. I’ve run it on ice, woods, alpine. It’s an old friend. I love the new character of the hot-rod parts. A little suspension love would be the next treat for my old friend.

Awrite, so I got busy with other projects, trips and such.
The water pump is overhauled, all put back together, oil filled coolant half filled and will top it off tomorrow and start it up and see if it all took. Then a couple pics and a woohoo from me if it is good.
Sorry for the delay. Hey look, a squirrel.

I put 6 tanks of gas through mine last month in WV.

Rb head and carb. Fredette ported. Yz forks ohlins rear shock all done by cogent. Efm auto clutch, left hand rear brake. Converted to DC to run the light bar.

It climbs things i can't walk up. Have to get some new seat foam for it soon.

Is that the stock kick lever? Good looking bike. What year? Don't think I have seen a seat cover that matched the graphics like that.

Not stock, was on the bike when I got it. 2001, Graffix were on when I got it. The PO did a lot of work on the bike and then decided he was too old to ride(few health issues) and I got it. The one I built my buddy is tame compared to this one. Pic of the one I built for my buddy on left. He has a new front fender and recovered the seat with a little more firm foam.

I have pretty much the same bike same mods...…….I've been having trouble though so I use my other bike (TE250). Anyway the old KDX runs fine but when it gets some temp in it she won't idle and I've been through the carb a bunch of times. Only thing left is to take it apart.

    Love me some KDX200!

Titled as a '95, has parts from a few bikes. I have a collection starting of KDX parts. This is the 2nd one I have built. My buddy bought the first one. It is the one to the left in this pic. DSCN1879.JPG
