Joel, I've mapped out my ride for Saturday. It's an all day tour of some of the best in the park. I will call it an intermediate ride not a tough intermediate as I describe before. There are bailouts and go around most of the way. You have a spot in my group. You can show off your skills from Jimmy. Lots of photo ops, beautiful country.

We need people with some knowledge of the area to step up and lead small groups of riders.:ear
The small groups will move along much better (less waiting), we can make a few loops of various difficulties that meet up at Monache
    Meadows for a little social.:beer

Hey Rich, we'd love to ride with you again. Last year was a hoot!

May even be in for the harder ride Fri. We plan to leave early Fri am, so hopefully will be there in time for an afternoon ride.

    Lookin' forward to it!!

The trail is south of Deadwood Meadow and north of Big Meadow. It is hard to see and there is no bike trail sign, just a wooden sign on a tree. I talked to a ranger about Siretta Peak about 6 or 7 years ago, he said it was open to motorcycles. I asked why it wasn't on the "new" map (the first one that wasn't hand-drawn) and he said it wasn't on there because hardly anyone ever rode it. I tried to be as nice as I could when I told him that perhaps maybe more people would ride it if, you know, it was on the map... It is a difficult trail that climbs high above Big Meadow. Lots of switchbacks and sidehill exposure with some rock ledges. It dead ends at the wilderness boundary, much like Rattlesnake and a few others now. Photos never do the trails justice...

If you guys are going to do Rincon I'd suggest a very early start. Last time I rode it we started out from our remote camp spot while it was still dark. We got to Cedar and waited for it to get light enough to see and then headed down. It ended up getting uncomfortably hot way too early. Bring twice as much water as you usually use, or maybe just a good filter. There was a ton of water in Durwood Creek and Brush Creek when I was there July 5-9.
