I'm up for it but feel that if work closes then I shouldn't have spent a few hundred on this. Can you postpone it until Sept/Oct?
Hi all, with regards to the Covid 19 outbreak i will keep a close eye on the situation to determine if we should still do this ride. But here are my thoughts at the moment, with the current situation I am comfortable with the level of risk. The ride normally only attracts between 5-10 people so numbers are not going to be large. We can practice social distancing quite easily during the ride and you can still have a good conversation with someone whilst maintaining that 2m gap. The Saturday evening festivities normally constitute of takeaways and then a few beers outside or on the veranda's of the cabins, so once again no big groups in close contact. In the past, people have shared cabins to keep the cost down. Maybe in the current situation this would not be wise. Book a cabin for yourself or there are plenty of tent sites to camp. There are also motels in town which is only 2 km`s from the camp. Some of you will know that i have an existing lung condition due to a major medical event a few years ago, and this places me in the higher risk category should i contract the disease. So i will not be taking any undue risks. But mental health is also important in these times, and for me riding my bike is the number 1 pick me up.
I agree with this. Being the resident annoying H&S type, I think your risk assessment is sound. Will try to not go around licking people on this trip......
Ok, it's official, the 42 is in superb condition! Very dry and there's obviously been a bit of work on it lately. A totally different experience on the WR250 than approx 7 years ago on my V-Strom... Took next to no photos but there will be video once I get around to editing it. Fishers track was also sweet as. We chased a hind off the track at one stage. Fantastic day out on the bikes!
WOW, how things have changed in the last few days. Obviously the ride is now cancelled Stay safe everyone and we will definitely do this at a later stage
I'll still be there in a month or two! Might be a bit slipperier though :) Take it easy and keep away from the zombie hordes!
Gutted. Was really looking forward to this. Managed to get the racks made and on this weekend and was going to order tyres tomorrow. But it had to be done.
Yes i have tentatively set the new date as 5th and 6th of December for a pre-Christmas get together, as long as that nasty virus stays away. Looks like there will be a few organized rides before then and i have it on good authority that Kiwi Rider will be organizing a 2 day Northland adventure ride over labour weekend so there should be a few good rides to chose from over the next 3-4 months.
Hey guys, are you still looking at early Dec? The KTM Rally is riding in and around there a few days before so there will probably be 150 roost marks on most of the trails.
Still Planning on December 5th & 6th but dont want to get too excited in case COVID throws a spanner in the works again and we go back up in alert levels. Epic Events is doing many of the same road and tracks on Nov 21-22 with the Long Way Around Ride and then the same for the KTM rally on Nov 30th to 5th. So the roads and tracks should be well swept by the time we get to there, and best of all we get to do them all for FREE.
Fishers track was surprisingly slippery this morning. A couple of fast boys had been through first up, seemed to spend the hole days riding following there roost tracks up every gravel road we turned onto.
