famous quote from a previous AB captain.
Pitfalls of crossing Cook Strait
Arrived at Picton in truck at one this arvo for two o'clock sailing. Cancelled
Seven o'clock sailing cancelled.
Still sitting in queue hoping for two o'clock sailing in morning.
Big swell strong winds trucks only. Expendable bunch.
Having a jolly time.
I was riding my bike all day today in that weather. Was a tad blowy at times.
mate, i was telling anyone who'd listen there would be no ferries the night before. waiting for and being on ferries is right near the top of my shit list. best of luck getting all that over with asap.
and if it had got to 60 knots like it was forecast, it would've shut wellington airport too. fortunately it only got to 40-odd so i managed to get out of there mid-arvo.
4 weeks leave starts now
It's nearly five in the morning aboard the Mary Celeste in the middle of Cook Strait. Can't seem to nod off somehow. Hope the truck is still where I parked it
I'm driving down from Auckland today, hopefully they've cleared the backlog by the time I get there. Although it looks like I may have a night in Welly at this stage.
You may have to be ready for that. Last I heard was that first car/passenger trips on bluebridge will be two o'clock this arvo.
A big wave took out a window in the dining room on our trip over. The new plywood is a nice touch though.
You're right... it is a nice touch, gives it just a hint of rural.
The old Mangaweka bridge is being replaced...
Saw that. Oldest bridge in the country, past its 100 year design life! Will have to make an effort to cross it during our January trip up norf.
I just rode over it a week ago...
might have to go for a burn..........
Turn left onto SH1 on the left is a great coffee shop with yummy good. Tip. Make sure you keep on the planks on the bridge.
Been over it a few times. Be a shame to see it go...
Tks for the heads up...if still there in March, I'll make sure to have a look.
Went over it last Thursday. It will still be there in March this is NZ remember.
How is the planning going?
Hows your lightweight whale coming along?
Hope so...still mopping the decks (and cobbling together a HUGE RR) after the 3 weeks in the Balkans...man, what a ride! (gulp)
It had the LOT...again!...and then some!
Got the stack of NZ-maps sitting right here though...another week or 2 and I'll click into NZ-mode again, checking for flight specials MEL-AKL atm.
Dates are all set, bike-deposits paid...and I might as well forward that Balkans-suitcase to you guys. It's got all that's needed to keep moving...
I'll do the AKL accom bookings for the bookend-dates on the weekend. Most likely around Hillcrest/ Glenfield area again.
Hi Eddie, how are you going these days? The bike is sort of on hold at the moment I am working on a rear shock as the one on it is an original YZ with the BMW lower eye fitted.
Alas the house has taken over all my spare time at the moment had a new roof fitted took the top half of the chimney down and the rest still has to come out and a bathroom to do.
What the hell.
But I plan on getting the Ruffy going for next year so the project bike just has to wait a bit longer.
@Mouse hope your are watching...
