I hope the vintage crowd into those sorts of bikes will be tight enough to recognise and report an unusual number of spares pop up for sale some months down the track. I doubt old mate will see many of them in one piece again but you never know, fingers crossed.

    Pricks.

    Shit news indeed.
If you can put up a list I for one could pass it on to some groups of enthusiasts to keep a lookout for.

Dave was a very good mate of mine, one of the half dozen funerals I went to last year. He had been playing around with XS650's for years, long before they got trendy, so was picking them up for next to nothing. Probably knew more about them than anyone in NZ...specially what else Yamaha would fit on them. There were a couple of 750's, one a flattracker, one a classic racer - he rode the flattracker at the vintage track at Meremere only a couple of weeks before he died. The one with twins discs was his road bike, absolutely perfect, I rode it, was like a new bike - XJ front end, TX750 swing arm, cistern lids for sidecovers, he really knew how to sort these things out.

So I'm gutted, gutted my mate is dead, and gutted that some fucker has stolen what was so precious to him. If he was still alive those responsible would just disappear, no fuss, they just wouldn't exist anymore. I look out for XS650 parts as I still have one, Dave was my go to for parts and advice....so I'm looking, I'm looking....

Can you advise on Market Value VS Sum Insured ,specifically for a 'classic car' please?
    "Sum Insured
We’ll cover your vehicle for the market value, which is what it was worth before your claim, up to the sum insured."
I can imagine any small prang would easily exceed the value, and write off an older car where parts/panels etc may not be easily available?

I'd avoid the issue by getting an Agreed Value policy (and get a valuation if possible).
Classic Cover and Star will do these, I'm not sure about other insurers (maybe Protecta and AA).

Has anyone paid for an MRI scan lately? I've got some nerve issues being investigated and they're about $1300 per "region". The surgeon wants 3 done, so getting on for $4000. Is this the going rate or have they seen me coming?

    Many thanks.

CT scans are circa $1500 (private), so I'd think MRIs would be in the same zone.

Yeah, exactly. The bike fell over one way, I staggered off the other as far as I could before my knees buckled. Bit of an uncontrolled adrenaline surge I reckon. In all the crazy shit I've done before or since, I've never had that happen any other time.

And during the excitement, I didn't notice I'd bumped the kill switch. Spent half an hour in the hot sun kicking the bike in frustration while trying to keep an eye out for an angry pissed off snake. Eventually my mate came looking for me, flicked the kill switch and kicked it in to life first kick. Bastard. I was still shaking when we got back to the farmhouse.
