What's a thread without pictures ...... in this case a start. A month or so ago I was in my dealers shop as he was doing his winter booking order for Klim gear. He allowed me to browse his copy of the 2017 Klim brochure and I saw what is meant to be the replacement http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/klim-overland-and-traverse-being-phased-out-replaced.1129598/ for the Overland model, the Carlsbad. It looked much better than the Overland, but looks aren't everything to everybody.
So I set up a search for the jacket and today this popped up http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-carlsbad-jacket , granted no pictures but the official release must be imminent.
Hoping it has a better fit/cut than the Overland (looks like it may) but everyone's built a little different.

From what the Revzilla article implies the Badlands is what the new Carlsbad follows only lighter, then they also have a Badlands weight Kodiak jacket http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/klim-kodiak-jacket.1181304/ with a more European cut. I've got the current Badlands and love it, maybe a lighter model would work too.

The stuff that's written at revzilla website sounds very good.

I was thinking about waiting it out or buying the badlands but Amazon had overland for $349 and I couldn't pass that up.

OK, not the best image quality but found this on a Scandinavian site

In the second image the tan pants appear to be just street pants and not the new Carlsbad pants that are seen in the first image.

    That looks nice.
Do you have any infos about venting and placement of vents?
As I understand, Klim Kodiak will have the same venting as Badlands, and looks great, but will be little bit pricey. :D
Will the Carlsbad have the same venting sheme as Overland or new Traverse?

As far as venting I know as much as you .... nothing, I payed to much attention to the pictures. I'd imagine until Klim North America releases the information we're left guessing. I honestly thought the brochure would be out by now as they have already put their "off-road catalogue" out for 2017. Maybe I'll ask the dealer again if I can grab some screenshots of the details.

The all-grey Overland was more discreet, IMHO. Let's see what Klim comes up with in terms of fabric and reinforcements, and how it will compare to the Apex.

^^ maybe those are the matching Carlsbad pants for that colorway now that we have a better image and we can see some pocket/vent/armour stitching.

Well, if you get some new infos from dealer, please share. :D

    So from picture above:
it looks like there are vents on forearm
it won`t have the same venting sheme as new Traverse, so I am hoping that it will have the same vertical vents as Overland ( two in front, two in backs ).

I will certainly give it a try. I just still don`t get why Klim uses only short back protectors, which don`t cover the lower spine.
