Stumbled on this new offering from KLiM.

It looks an awful lot like my old UVEX Enduro Carbon. Would be great to be able to buy faceshields for my UVEX again.

Rebranded Chinese helmet? That is some bullshit right there (on Klim's part, I mean - not "calling bullshit").

thats how it works,, you take a base shell, make a few tweaks to the trim and call it yours.

its different the way a pontiac vibe was to a toyota matrix

thats not to say klim hasnt made some improvements to the existing helmet,, but that little spot of advertising would have you believe klim just "invented" a revolutionary new helmet. its crooked.

In the auto industry it used to be called badge engineering.

$550 for a carbon fiber helmet isn't so bad. $250 more for a Sena 10U fully integrated isn't horrible either. If it had a flip down sun shade, I'd be excited about it.

Yeah but when you can get the same helmet for $400 US without the Klim logo on it....

I guess if you have the Klim rider discount it would actually be a killer deal... integrated comm in a CF helmet for under $500 that way!!

From watching the video it appears to have been designed and prototyped by Klim? Or at least that is the impression they want to convey. Might be more to the differences between the Krios and the helmet its based on than simply rebadging. Merely rebadged China helmet with a different graphics scheme would be totally lame and I'm assuming Klim would not be that stupid? Or not.

As a side-note. Who wants to be wearing a Chinese made helmet in a crash anyway?

Be carefull,,, seems the overwheling majority of gear,, including helmets are made in china, are you sure your not outfitted in chinese gear?
Besides, does it really matter if it meets standards equally as the few not made in china?

Totally agree That most riding gear is now made in China. I am being careful about my gear selection and am happy to report all my gear with the exception of a couple pairs of gloves are not Chinese made. Most of the China made helmets Iv'e handled are complete and utter cheap junk. Yes they can make very high quality stuff as long as your holding a gun to their head and inforcing your companies strict quality control on them. I have years of experience working with China manufacturers on offload projects (US to China) and could relate many examples where they tried to cut corners and cheap out with direct impact to safety. You have to keep on them. I would assume Klim is overseeing the manufacture of this helmet bearing their name. They'd be foolish not to.

Still considering the Krios but also the Schuberth E1 which is a bit more money. In the long run I might be happier with it so money well spent. I'm just really disappointed that Klim is rebadging a China helmet. Maybe if it was 1/3rd or even half as much I could stomach it but its an expensive helmet and I'd rather spend a little more and get an Arai or a Schuberth. When the Krios is released and we get to see what it's really all about I may change my mind about it. So hoping that it is a unique Klim designed helmet with their quality standards to back it up, and not simply a rebadge.
