KLR 650 Modifications

    Safari tank install on a Gen 1. Got this tank on a salvage yard KLR I bought. These Safari tanks are advertised by the manufacturer as Gen 2 only, but the US distributor says fits both Gen 1 & 2. I found that to be not quite true. The stock Gen 1 rad fan protrudes rearward further than the Gen 2 rad & rad fan set-up, interferes & contacts the tank. I had some extra parts kicking around, put a Gen 2 fan/fan motor in to a Gen 1 fan bracket assembly = low profile fan. Gotta swap electrical connectors, as they're different:

    Even with that, I still had to bend the rad forward slightly to obtain this clearance - view looking straight down onto the fan:

    This is one big ass tank! The black permanent marker mark on the side of the tank is 15 liters. They are advertised as 31 liter tanks, but have read they'll hold as much as 38! These plastic tanks tend to balloon and expand a bit over time.

    The tank comes with this stainless steel cross brace support to add rigidity to the set-up. PITA to install:
