Less than 2 weeks to Eicma... it's going to be a busy ADV year this year!
Can't wait to finally see some of these bikes then at IMS afterwards.

We are not going to Long Beach this year so unfortunately I will not be posting night before the show pics of all the new bikes. I will personally attend the show in Denver this year in January.

I hope all of you can attend a local show!!!
And bring a millennial or 2 along please.

    thanks for the feeback.

The point of the post was not about displacement, but that they have invested cash into a newer type of thumper engine that cools down better than their old, which saves mass and development cost.

If they just use it on one model, it's dumb and would lead to less profits.

They have done a good job over the decades with branding the DR BIG.
The 2016 Africa Twin was a twin cylinder engine. Branding.

If the new bike is a 480lbs+ beast, then my hats off to Honda and their success with the 2016+ AT. Suzuki is just chasing the pennys and chasing the AT. I hope their profits do well.

Oh your saying you expect another bigger thumper from this design.
Yes a new drz/Dr model of course.

I'm kind of interested in the KTM 690 now.

She is kind of a fatty thumper.

She has been around for many years. 2012 or so?

below is a dyno of a 2016 model

    I would be happy with 48-58hp (8,500rpm;
and 50-60lbs of torque at like 3,500rpm.
    410lbs.

I'd say the DR Big was looks inspiration more than massive thumper inspiration...that ship has sailed.

Sadly those spy shots from April show DR Big inspired bodywork on a clearly V-Strom'ish bike.
Also I see a few keys from that spy shot now in the teaser video.

I think they are just making a "new" V-Strom.

I'm not seeing how this skid plate can fit on the two bikes that are shown above. Granted the new DR BIG could be a P. Twin. But that seems odd. They are all about L-twins and such.

Here is a 650 also for another view.

I'll report back after another teaser.

Sounds like you might like a TR650.

Yep we been discussing over here.
It's a DR Big inspired look for the new Vstrom so it seems.

Those bikes have a different bottom end.
No oil filter to make the exhaust go around, it sticks closer to the cases.

    I've been loving my F650GS.
Fat torque 650 thumper. FI & ABS.
It's 19" front so a mini vstrom xt kinda bike.
Works for me vs tall seats.
My 2012 DL650 is now my street tourer, while my WR250R is my off-road machine.
1 bike can't do it all.

I've ridden 690s, they rip for sure.

Remember the Japanese are very precise with their imagery, nothing is randomingly done.

    Is it a V coming...yeah I'd say so.

This thread is a good chuckle. Enormous speculation, right down to displacement, power, and weight, based on nearly zero information. I'm sorry, but all I can think of is a group of gossipy women making up someone's entire life story based on a picture of their shoes.

The 690 I've ridden wasn't that great of a bike. I believe it was a 2017 model? Pretty gnarly vibrations, wedgie seat, sky high inseam required, speed wobble if you go too fast. I think a steering damper would be a wise investment. In spite of that it's a fun and capable machine. I'd like to try one of the new dual counterbalanced ones or a husky 701.

You forgot the cost especially if/when you add the price to get it RTW ready and reliability.

Superdual on other hand comes with pretty much everything; silky smooth engine, just enough power for major highways with 130-140kmh speed limit; still high seat. Somewhat unnecessary heavy about 20lbs+ added exhaust weight. Good road handling suspension which will beat you up when you get off pavement and try to hang on to your 690 riding buddy.
