I don't think; owner above posted: I will not buy European or Chinese because not reliable.

If my 6-pack doesn't come and we get back a $7699 new KLR I would argue that at that price it will be more expensive than SD at $8995; just don't believe kwak would put decent suspension on it and farcles on new bike will be expensive not what you pay for Gen1/2.

KLR is a piece of ancient technology; there are many used bikes which are better and cost as much. Now if you excuse me I drove 2500mi in 2 days will get some rest.

Hopefully the RX4 does great here in the USA.

    Love the competition.

Japan and China really really do not like each other.
    Japan must protect their turf.
they do not want to let China do to them what they did to HD.

They have made billions in the USA with cages and MCs.

    Honda comes to mind.

I think Japan puts the smakedown on them on Thursday...err this week.
    Flexing some muscles.

    That is a odd question.

I figured someone who has been around since 2006 would know that HD was fixin to go bankrupt but was bailed out by tarriffs that were put on Japan motorcycles.

President Reagan raised tariff on large Japanese motorcycles in 1983; has another protective tariff been levied since then? Is one coming?

So your saying Japan is going to impose tariffs on Chinese motorcycles imported into America ? I sometimes have a hard time following your posts , that being said I'm not a cruiser rider , I usually stick to gravel and pavement heading to Gravel where their is a larger presence of Japanese and European bikes . I tend to look more at function rather than flash in a bikes creds . I guess this is odd too .

I think his point was that we protected HD from the Japanese selling cheaper and, arguably, better motorcycles with those tariffs. In other words Japanese were hurting HD sales with more models at lower prices the same way Chinese are now hurting Japanese sales.

Japan will need to counter that incursion into their markets at some point. Quality seems to be getting there. Obviously, it wouldn't be by us imposing tariffs for them. I don't think that is what he meant. But rather by offering something besides BNG year after year after year after year after year after year

Hopefully all this means there will be alot more choices in 2020 depending on your riding and spending needs.

If you need a fast street bike / gravel runner then the new DL1000 is your bike.

If you need the easier going version of that the DL650 is your bike.

If you need a real affordable and well packaged mini adv then the RX4 is your bike.

If you need a short and light mini adv then the V300X is your bike.

If you need a dirt focused adv then the T7 is your bike.

If you need old school thumper build it your self the the DR/DRZ if your bike.

If you need new school then the 450L is your bike.

If you need a big adv bike with electronics and even auto then the AT is your bike.

If you need an easy riding torque machine then the Hima is your machine.

If you need an Euro ADV bike there are PLENTY of options up and down the use spectrum.

... hopefully a new KLR will fill in another one if those need categories & hopefully the other 3 will have something to surprise with too at some point.

The choices have never been better!!!

    Yes, Grreatdog is on point.

    Sorry for the confusion.

But, one way to look at it would be Japan putting tarriffs on China bikes in Japan.
But that is not what I was thinking.

So more day till Kawi's reveal.
We shall see, either a bust or many more years of KLR action.

    to add,

the RE Hima can be put in there and so can the CRF250L Rally ABS.

Same goes for the Roadie CBX from Honda.

If we get a new KLR that is around 410lbs. We will be just about dialed in.
The T700 and KTM 790 will connect us with the 500lbs bikes that have saturated the market.

See we could start at the DR200 and end with the KTM 1290 and be good to go.
But!!! there is still a gap missing. A keystone if you will.

They have to do it early before China starts to disrupt them.

But good luck trying to beat the Ninja 400. :getiton

And to be fair the CB500X competes with the RX4 more than anything.
