I don’t think I posted pics of the refurb on my 05.
I did a replica of the 85 BMW Dakar paint scheme, it get a lot of double takes and commentary now.
The one I should never have sold...

That's just awesome!
Nicely done!! I'd love to see more detail on your headlight setup, please.
It was actually a cheap headlight option from eBay.
It worked ok and looked cool but started getting intermittent and I briefly loaned the bike to a friend for an off road event so ended up putting the original fairing/light back on. Still looks cool and more robust then cheap import stuff. I’d prefer something like a big Baja headlight but those are pretty pricey. I did not spend a lot of energy prepping/sanding the original fairing and it shows in this pic but still looks better then prior.
I can't smash the like button hard enough.. @tractorking the bike looks great!
Long ago I went through 2 87’s, an 09, and a ‘12. Fast forward to recent times, after selling something portly and euro I thought I’d grab another KLR as fun, cheap, project “until I find what I really want” bike. I might have accidentally stumbled on the bike I really want.
After a variety of bikes somehow I found this 2017 with 350 miles and gobs of upgrades it was a dealer preped bike that they used to showcase lots of after market stuff on the show room floor I got it from the original owner but he just never gelled with it and after 4 years decided to just keep his Harley which he rode more often. So 2 weeks in I’m liking the KLR. I’d been shopping for a 2022 KLR but the excessive dealer fees turned me off until they pop up on the used market. In the mean time I will ride this one.
Some from the TAT in NC today.
My 2014? This year after her new white paint job.
