Just FYI; a military-issue KLR 250 can be found in the, "Americans In Wartime Museum."

From the museum's most recent newsletter:
ALL the vehicles in the Americans In Wartime Museum remain OPERATIONAL; no, "static displays." Trucks, tanks, wheeled and tracked fighting vehicles, and . . . a KLR250 motorcycle, are all driveable/rideable.

My son has been rebuilding his Klr250. It is a 90 model. He’s on a tight budget. We have been looking for a gas tank for the bike as his is rusted pretty badly. Does anyone have one laying around they might part with? Or have a line in one?

If it is rusted mainly on the inside consider using the electrolysis method to clean it.

You can find a video or two on the web showing how.

It only takes a battery charger, two big nails and some household chemical items.

My tank was beautiful after doing this.

White vinegar works as well for removing rust inside a gas tank. I've done almost 10 motorcycle gas tanks with the vinegar and they are spotless on the inside. The klr tank only needs 3 gallons, just make sure you remove the petcock and block it off with a piece of rubber and a steel plate.
