Grabbed myself a 500exc 2016 model for a new adventure steed. Thought I would post up my adventure build of it as I go for those contemplating the same. I chose the 500 after much research as I wanted a bike I could still do enduro on with my son on his 200exc as well as adventure ride doing day rides and overnighters. Essentially the 500 fits the bill perfectly as is a weapon off road as well as capable of sitting on 100kph comfortably with power to burn for the road. I come from an Enduro racing background in my younger years ( now 53 ) and have spent the last 18 months on a Dr 650 to get the feel for the type of adventure riding I wanted to do. So here is the bike as it arrived I will be posting the build as I go . These are a few ideas I am doing that I have got from other 500 adventurers. First the old inner tube cut down and used to prevent the throttle cables getting hooked up when removing / installing the larger tanks. This makes it very easy to slide on the 20ltr Acerbis tank. When the tank is fitted the radiators are just swinging in the breeze so using the tank rubber attached to the side prevents either tank or radiator from beating each other up. Next was the airfilter. The standard catch for the airfilter has been upgraded to the factory one so it stays put and won't move around. More to come.
