Well no, a ‘lean’ engine is bad. Plenty of these bikes are in a too lean condition. There is a range that the AFR’s can be in that is considered safe. As far as a decrease in fuel economy, once again it depends on throttle use. A more efficient state of tune can provide the same if not better fuel economy. About 12.5:1 is considered good for economy with about 13.5:1 considered optimum for power. Some may have a variation on this.

Most would send their ECU to Rex without asking where he places the emphasis on the AFR’s ie for power, economy or a compromise.

Thanks! Thats what I wanted to hear.
Indeed what i love most about the 500 is how light it is! (and the power and the suspension.....)
If I can make it comfortable for 100km/h transport sections I'll be happy.

Oh it does that easy lol 120 is not a problem just cruising along
As I wrote a page or so back I built mine to replace my old 640Adv and the 500 is better in every way including transport sections

Punted mine around Sunny Corner all weekend. There is some seriously tight and technical stuff there. Real hard core enduro type stuff. I actually prefer the 501 over the 350. Super smooth and tractable. Both are really nice though.

Did you buy a 501? Thought you only had the 350.

Does the 350 vibrate less than the 500?

Can't say that I've noticed either of them vibrating much. They're both better than an LC4 or a 300cc 2 stroke .

Pounding through the rocks, roots and ruts of Sunny Corner, a bit of vibration wasn't very high on my list of priorities!

My only complaint with the 500 was vibration thru the foot pegs on transport sections. Such a first world problem!
