Installed the IMS 17L tank. I'm really impressed, top quality product, easy install and I honestly hardly notice the difference between the stock and larger one. Even when going up some of the hills I used to tackle on the 300.

I am really impressed with the bike. Only negative so far is the seat which is really painful on long rides. I've ordered a seat concepts through ADV Moto but have been given the usual 6-8 weeks timeframe which is really frustrating. I can't wait until we have a better supply of parts here. If anyone else is looking to buy a seat maybe we could order from the US and split the postage ?

Took a bit of getting used to after the two stroke but I made it up. Even with the stock DOT tyres this thing has better traction than the TE when using the traction control. It's quite unbelievable.

@Fearless Whetu that's a good looking hill and the white Husaberg looks pretty good too!

I've just realised the IMS tank has been pissing fuel out where the pump bolts in - the tank is slightly concave around the top and bottom of the pump mounting point and fuel has been leaking from these sections around the pump.

On the stock tank this section has an extra area of reenforcing to obviously keep this from happening.

I only noticed as it's been garaged for two weeks with a full tank. Petrol has been leaking over the FI system, engine, exhaust and wiring. The fuel has destroyed the tape that was around the wiring junction beneath the tank and eroded a couple of rubber things. Moto GC are talking to the IMS rep today to see what can be done.

Is the tape around the loom an issue guys and will this have done any other damage I'm not aware of ? I'm not sure about electrical stuff and wether this will affect it's weather proofeness long term.

It's a pain and I'm really not impressed with the IMS tank right now.

I think it's just a fault, and that can happen. Other than this it's a good product, I am assuming they will replace it for me so no huge deal.

    Just annoying.

How far out is it? It maybe able to be picked up with some gasket paper. Nevertheless you would expect a replacement.

Fraser from Moto GC just got back to me ( he is fantastic, really is) IMS coming to the party with new tank and installation. I have looked further and much of the wiring wrap appears to be perished and is just coming apart so I'm going to get them to re- wrap it all and check everything is ok.

It's inconvenient but I'm grateful to have a new tank and a good shop nearby. I just don't want any issues down the track.

    This may have been covered.

But why choose the 500/501 over the 450?

Low and mid range of the 510cc motors will happily be short shifted and punt along effortlessly. Not saying the 450 hasn't got the berries either, it's a bit like comparing a 250 and 300 2 stroke. The power figures are very similar but the torque curves are fairly different.

The 500/501 has that amazing wide ratio gearbox

A lot wider than the 450
