Make your own, if you can get the green chile. A cheeseburger without green chile is pointless.

Firstly huge thanks to every one of you that have subscribed visually, vocally or silently, this is going to be a fun time and taking in some unique areas of the world that some have seen before and some haven't.
In 2011 when joining the forum like a lot of you I read ride reports, but as I read them I searched for the ridden tracks others had used if they looked at all interesting to me and over the last 8 years I have accumulated over one million km's of tracks.
If I load all of them on a map its a big jumbled mess, but then one day I just thought can I make a new RTW route out of a lot of them combined...and so it began.
I looked at it and to make it less overwhelming I decided to look at it in sections, so this is how the ride will be put together and I'll elaborate more as each section progresses.
Don't take it as absolute, things happen, expect changes due to, laws, visas, Carnet de Passage, blocked routes, wars, weather, fun, parts, tent space, local interaction, etc
Planning a mostly dirt RTW route, and I'm trying to think in the order of 90%+ non-paved if and when possible, it does need that - planning.
It can't be a seat of your pants type ride for the most part due to weather and seasons so a little foresight makes for a better route I think. So a quick breakdown of that map on post #1 as it's pictured in my head, goes like this -
North America, in multiple subsections
Mongolia, three crossings
Africa, mostly west coast
...and back to Europe, somehow
The bike, for those of you that aren't aware there is a build thread, one that has taken on a life of its own HERE, as of this date 47 pages long and 100,000 views and growing daily and some good interaction.
...but if you don't want to read it, I will bullet point it for you.
The bike is a 2016 KTM 500exc Six Days, bought with 500 miles on the clock and chosen specifically as it has a slightly higher component level than the standard stock bike and it has a few things the 2017 and up models don't have that I felt were very important.

larger capacity tank availabilty
Is it the right bike, who knows, time will tell, but its what I wanted to use and I think its the right bike for where and how I want to ride
It started life looking like this
After I'd played around with it and made it RTW ready, 3 weeks later it now looks like this and its time to ride...
Build is done and the riding has begun....subscribed!

I'm in. My '16 still looks like your bike picture #1 without a side stand and with a lot of grime.

If this was my first RTW I'd be super gung-ho to be rolling out the driveway and hitting the dirt and dealing with stuff as it came along. Age and experience has taught me to look at it a different way, go out test the bike make sure EVERYTHING is good and happy.
So on test ride #1 unloaded, I refuse to accept everything I read
The bike feels good ridiculously light with no luggage but I know that feeling won't last
It feels good and really stable in the dirt
Ok, so test #1 passed time to go back, load up with some/ most luggage and see how much it feels different and make some suspension adjustments
What an epic experience.
I am curious as to what sort of pace do you ride at on a trip like this? Assuming body and machine are top notch.
As fast as conditions allow?
Comfortable and safe?
Slow and steady?
