What is the expected distance of the route shown?

Will you have a gpx file to share at termination of the route?

What percent will be on pavement?

Hey Paul, just a thought, how about a tiny pelican case bolted on that tail , to hold real valuables locked and protected? No need?

Great job so far, Paul :thumb

We've read loads about the bike and luggage (obviously), but I'm curious about the gear that you will be wearing on your trip. Any chance we could get a short breakdown on your riding gear, and reasons you chose what you chose? Cheers!

Ballpark 2500 miles, probably 80%+ dirt/ sand, most of this is already downloadable, CABDR, NVBDR and AZBDR with the connectors... it's nothing special

like every good ride report this one started late, maybe 150-200 hours later than the expected departure date, but who's counting, you guys seem to be keeping yourself busy

    ...and we're off

25 miles or so later the pavement peters out...good!

cross into Cali find a cool camping spot next to the Colorado and chill, day 1 in the books

Thx Paul for the MM discount code. Just loaded up on a bunch of gear. 1 step forward to getting my 500 ready. I am on the fence between a 4 or 5 gallon acerbis tank. Leaning towards the 5 to have plenty on those really long rides between gas stops.

Also wanted to thank you Paul and MM for the hookup. Got the R80 and Nomad currently mounted on the GSA with the hopes of transferring it to the 790R when the first batch gets here. We’ll see if it’s going to be the replacement I’m thinking it’ll be.

Ride safe and looking forward to following along

Out of Blythe it was straight into sand.

    Five hours of sand.

Its obvious that this sandy section has taken its toll over the years...some enter and never leave

This is going to be the view for a lot of the day. Two track deep fine sand in sections just gotta grab a hand full of throttle and go and drink plenty of water its over 100 degrees out here.

Between the small two track section you occasionally get dumped out on a paved road...this time route 66

They had nothing in a style I was looking for!

Not to step on your knowledge Paul but that looks like Rice CA. If it is, it's not on RT. 66.

Actually didn't say this was Route 66, I said the sandy track dumped us out on Route 66, this was a few miles later.

Route 66 was painted on the road a few miles before but who cares. I guess don't believe everything that's painted on the road...cool photo though
