ok so what are "Charlie parts" and what is the significance of #42?

Only thing I can think is Charlie Boorman, in his ride in the PD a couple years ago-- but that fellow looks too skinny to be Charlie :)

    Charming personality?

(42 is the number of Jonah Street's 2006 Dakar bike, and yes, I now own it, or the important bits of it, anyway).

I got to ride one last year and found it to be a very easy bike to ride. The engine was smoother than my 640 and didn't have the snap of the 640 but pulled forever. I rode through a few G-Outs at about 75, whoosh with a big grin on my face.
I can't wait to find out how it turns out.

So, how does it differ from the model I have? Looks like the fairings are quite a bit different? When did their team jump from the 660's to the worked over 525's? :scratch

    - JAFCO - "Charlie" is in reference to Charlie Rauseo who heads up a rally crew out of SF here in CA and is a mututal friend of mine and Ned's. Jonah raced for the his team last year.

Same fairing and tanks as you, but that's it. It's a 525 they converted.

It's going to be a while before I dig into this seriously- tentative plan is to replace my current 450 whenever I can find the cash, and take my current bike, and this one, and combine them to make a rally bike. But don't have the cash to do so now, so it'll be in bits for some time.
