I've had my bike in pieces since May last year, just finished putting it back together with a KIT690 and a few more mods on Sunday night. Here's the first start:

Generally I'm not a fan of factory graphics on a civilian bike, but man that bike looks (and sounds!!!) amazing. Congrats on your build, it turned out fantastic.
Just one question: where did you get your tanks painted? I'd like to get my rear OEM tank painted but given the horror stories about paint bubbling and cracking due to fuel vapours, I'm a bit afraid of going ahead.
Once again congrats on your beauty :D

I just used a local motorcycle spray painter, however being the 18L Rally rear tank it was already painted white so we just painted over the factory paint.

Hopefully that works for you on these xlpe tanks.
The older painted 690 tanks would bubble paint and stickers even with the factory paint still there.
What ever paint the factory used and what ever technique they used to apply meant the paint could breath fuel just like the tank.

Hopefully these newer tanks are different.

The weird thing is, you never hear/read about the graphics bubbling on the rear tanks...but the material is supposed to be the same, or am I wrong?

Must be frustrating having the graphics bubble on the front tanks despite the proper cut outs. I guess actual RFR rally bikes only need their graphics to last a race or two as sponsorship etc change frequently. Expensive to have to replace graphics often for regular joes.

If you still have these files, would you mind sharing them? I am just getting started on learning some Adobe CAD software and this would be fun to play with.

Veetwo_tls....dumb question but what is that black housing you have on all your main electrical lines? Secured with the o so sexy orange zip ties. That looks brilliant!

It's commonly called braided wire loom or braided wire sleeve. You can check some out on Amazon.

Hi mates, Iam new here. I want to upgrade my 690 2014 with one of this kits, kit690 or perfect fairings kit but I have no idea what to choose. Money wise, perfect fairings is my prefered one but Iam seeing the people here is buying kit690, my question is why? Is it much better quality? Thanks for your advise

Ionut at KIT690 built that kit using mostly the original 450 Rally parts with just a few adapters. The original Rally tanks are very sturdy. That said, I believe that Perfect Fairings has a kit that offers the original Rally tanks.

I also saw one of the first KIT690s being built in the USA by MaxVert. The quality was fabulous. If I were building one today, I'd be building a KIT690 or KIT701.

If you want to use Perfect fairing you should have ordered a couple of years ago, Then you might get it next year....

Perfect fairings be prepared to do lot fab work to fit it , what i read seen with others bought there kit & lot had to wait for parts that were missing. what put me off was the front perfect fairings tanks there composite tanks & when i asked questions they were very vague to answer like MST are.

KIT690 use all 450 Rally ktm body work easy bolt up kit everything there & the customer support if any problems following the fitting , yes KIT690 little dearer but the quality is there.

FWIW: The front tanks are made by ACERBIS
