It seems that many people have added the FMF Q4 without remapping and some remap with the Akro map.

I know the Akro map dissables the SAS.

For those who DO NOT remap have you dissabled the SAS or left it intact and functioning?

I know I added my Wings and didn't map but removed my SAS and have had no problems.

FMF Q4 Ti, NO remap, SAS and all other smog crap intact. Runs great! (But it ran great with stock exhaust too, just too hot and too heavy to live with)

I've initially ran my Wings without any remapping, but still had some stalling and popping going on. Last weekend uploaded the All years, Akra map and the stalling has completely gone! Running much smoother now and popping is almost gone. :clap

Only issue I have now is when the bike is cold. When I start her, she runs for 10 seconds and stops. thereafter runs without problems. I guess I need to play with the fuelling low down RPM a bit?? :scratch

    Thank for the replys.

My main goal (like others) is to reduce the heat while maintaining a quiet exhaut.

I'll probably source a TuneECU cable in case a remap is needed.

If you uncheck the SAS box in TuneECU, does it actually dissable the SAS or does it just prevent the FI error code from being triggered if the system has been removed and NO resistor was used?

I'm curious to know if anyone here has also disconnected the wire that limits the 2nd and 3rd gear on their 690?

Yeah, it's a pretty popular mod to do.

You're not going to notice a drop in mpg. It basically just pulls a little harder because the butterfly is all the way opened a posed to partially closed stock.

    Secondary Air System.
It's part of the pollution control.
It injects fresh air into the exhaust to facilitate a more complete burn of unburnt fuel.

Here's a post on how to remove it properly.

I've been looking at getting a Q4 for the 690, but I wanted to find out if there is anything different between the Ti version and the Al and stainless steel version. Obviously, the Ti is lighter, but is the rest of the pipe the same? I can't seem to find any information on the FMF website.

The Q4's for the 690 are all the same material except for the outer skin. Weight difference between the Ti and aluminum is only 0.2Lbs. I went with the cheaper of the two.

yes but the real benefit is the strength. The Ti will not dent as easily or scratch like the soft alumi can will.
