I think they just used the Duke motor, which had cable clutch. I have hydraulic on most of my other bikes, and I feather a lot. This one with the Camel isn't as great as hydraulic, but it's not horrible.

What am I missing with this clutch? It works just fine for me. I added the Camel to increase sweet spot, but, other than that it does everything a clutch is supposed to do.

There is absolutely nothing a cable clutch does better than a hydraulic clutch is the point. Having a clutch line you never need to adjust is fantastic, and has been standard on every single KTM for quite some time until now.

You're not missing anything...Its winter time for some and they have extra time to find a bitch.....you can go over to the Husqvarna 501 thread to hear about all the juice clutch slave failures...or read the old LC8 threads where we all upgraded to an Oberon slave or to the equipment thread to read about how to carry extra clutch fluid on a long trip or better yet what kind....hahaha....

ahhhhh the internet....If you put a fake master on this bike 90 percent of riders wouldn't even notice it is a cable clutch....

Well, like you I fixed the only everyday issue, the small and weird friction point by installing the Camel lever arm. With that, it’s as useful as a typical ktm juice operated clutch. But, I have yet to hammer the clutch hard enough to eat up all the free play and cause a clutch failure. I suspect it won’t ever happen if properly adjusted at the start of the ride. But ktm has spoiled us for so long, I think a lot of people aren’t going to check often. That’s the only real drawback IMO.

Clutch cable is no big deal to me, I grew up on them. My 2019 Tracer GT has a clutch cable too so KTM isn't the only one doing it.

Yep, had that failure on my 501. Replaced with an Oberon. Had a failure on my 450EXC as well, failed master.

Used the slave cylinder failure on my 501 as an excuse to buy a Rekluse. Thanks KTM!

    Speaking of clutch cables...

Has anyone gotten through to Motion Pro on a longer Adventure clutch cable. I sent a couple of emails but no response. Or suggest another company.

Heard a suggestion of buying a clutch cable and sending that to them as a sample and have them add 2 or 3 inches for the new one. Or use that for all the measurements and fittings. Going to a taller bar.

Over in Harley land they are complaining about hydraulic clutches, recently introduced on the touring bikes, because they aren't adjustable and the friction zone is too narrow. Also, they've had at least one recall. After spending my formative years over there, I was surprised to come here and see people complaining about cable clutches.

Based on ownership of a couple cruisers, I don’t remember living in the friction zone even 1/10th of what off-roaders do. Heavy clutches SUCK in the dirt, no matter what their mechanism.

Rottweiler sells a CRG clutch kit that includes a longer motion pro cable. They'd probably sell you just the cable I'm guessing.

I have my kit on the bench waiting to get installed in a few weeks, it measures ~49", I'm not sure what the stocker is.
