Got mine last week. Loving it
Did some dirt roads and she handles like a dream.
How you liking those tires? Great looking bike and congratulations! Jealous as hell...
Thanx. Tires seem good. Handle paved roads nicely and are not useless on dirt. Always a trade off I suppose.
I’ll keep them till they worn out and then look at other options or may even stick with them.
How is the akra for noise?
Actually it’s a bit on the quite side for my liking. I think the cat takes the roar out of the motor.
Cat also generates a lot of heat that you can feel around your feet at low speed but not enough to bother you.
do you think its a good value addition just for the weight (and I assume heat) aspect?
I'm happy with mine. As for the weight I think you are only saving about 1kg and I haven't felt the heat off the standard silencer.
Others have reported that the standard silencer does not get hot, most probably due to the fact that the cat is not contained in the silencer like on the 690.
Hope that helps.
How's the clutch somebody? Stiff?
Not stiff at all, I use two fingers.
that does thanks :)
I like my current bikes leo vinces for the fact that stock ones are very hot and very heavy but id rather they were much quieter. When I get my 790 I was considering the akra but you may have just saved me some money thanks!
Such a nice machine!
high guys--I'm trying to develop a carbon/kevlar "add on" to protect the tank sides--goes OVER the stock plastic and bolts on using slightly longer hardware on the 3 outside bolts--it covers up the central recessed mounting. The idea is to provide something a bit more robust and scrape resistant--the tanks are about $1300 if you hole one. I'll keep you updated when I have a product.
KTM Powerparts offers them - P/N 63503990044, but they are a bit spendy...
Make it look like this, and we're sold

Well-balanced and fun bike!
I know--manufactured by Akra--and are direct replacements--but if they are just thin carbon then (IMHO) the stock plastics are better!. As I said I'm adding over the top of the stock parts (which are about a 1/5th of the price of the carbon ones). I aim to be under half the Akra price--and mine will have kevlar underneath as I said---if anyone buys the Akra version I would be interested in what they think of them. My first pair are sitting in the moulds as we speak--but this game is always a chance with regards to how they come out--and of course fit--I'm hoping that the effort is worth while. I'm just working on refining a bashplate for the Old Trans Alp--far more difficult!

Like the prototype
Non-R version, Karoo3 tyres, and high fender from Acerbis.
That's by far the most non-ugly non-R I've seen so far.
