Really nice skid plate. Does Ian have a store front online anywhere? Do you have a link to this sale Dave?

If memory serves me correctly, I think I just contacted him here on advrider @ IanC when I ordered. I’m not sure he has a website. He simply posted on FB that there was a lower price due to rationalizing manufacturing by doing more bends and less welds. So, not a sale, just a new, lower price.

It’s been updated on the 790adventure.net FAQ page already by the magic elves, but it is £200 plus VAT if you live in a VAT country, and freight.

Picked up this Saturday and did just over 200 miles over the weekend! Loving the bike even found a bit of dirt close to the city.

Alright got my R today! Opted for the quickshift and cruise control.

People have been having trouble getting the manuals but my dealership got them in yesterday!

Dealer is in NJ but I'm in NY so it was about 2 and half hour ride back home. 45-50F, misting or raining the whole time but damn I was grinning the whole time. Completely different beast from my KLR and the low center of gravity made it feel like a lighter bike. Nearly wrecked 2-3 times because the brakes don't need 100 yards like the KLR :fpalm I'm having trouble finding the words to describe how great the ride was :D Powerband was smooth as butter and I found the quickshift to be pretty intuitive after a few miles. The cruise control is freaky as hell to trust and will take a while to get used to. I'm such a defensive rider that I'm always making micro adjustments around cars but I can see how it'll be a wrist saver on long empty roads. The seat isn't as bad some say but the Seat Concepts low seat is still going to be my first upgrade. The standard R height and seat is bit tall for me and made duck walking pretty hard.

I wish KTM stuck with their all orange scheme so I think I'll get some RAL 2009 paint and hit the tank covers and maybe the the fenders for more accent at some point.

    hanover powersports I take it?

I bought my 690 from them. Johnson in the parts department is awesome guy to deal with. Very knowledgeable.

congrats, the weather was certainly crap for a maiden ride. But I’m sure the excitement made it seem less crappy out

Today is an epic day - destined to be recorded in the halls of adventuring destiny - as today, I met my partner for the next leg of my journey - my KTM 790 R! What can I say that hasnt already been said? This bike is built for dirt hungry adventurers, with the vast experience of a ready to race culture culminating in a bike that rips right off the showroom floor. From crawling over rocks to blasting down the highway - a bike capable of so many diverse personas out of the box is unprecedented. Sure I'll make a few improvements, but
when I think of all the farkling that had to be done to my previous behemoth (990) to bend her to my will, this bike needs nothing in comparison.

Got a lift courtesy of a friend (thanks James :-) to our local dealer, and then suited up and headed for the trails to validate my hypothesis.
Didnt wanna get to zany with the stock tires, and skid plate of much questionality, however science prevailed, and this bike is indeed EPIC ! Hats off to KTM for building such a beast!!!:clap

The stock mud flap is a liability for sure - which MX flap are you using that fits?
