A solution has to have a naca duct / laminar airflow to work...ie wind up the backside to equalize front pressure.

Laminar Lip / Givi Airflow are two visual examples to understand the solution.

Might be kinda ugly but that Madstad with a MRA add on top deflector might work great as that's 2x laminar airflow.

I ride the stock R screen then a Madstad for touring on my 1290r. It’s a minute to unscrew it then screen on the R screen when I get to my destination, or a stretch of rough riding comes up. That being said - gravel and fire roads are no issue at all with taller screen, just when it gets tougher — in which case stop and get the Phillips!

for what it’s worth on the 790 setup.

This has worked very nicely for me. Givi Airflow on front and a spoiler on top of the Givi. Some might find it ugly but I love its functionality over its look. Smooth ride for hours without the killing buffeting and noise from the original setup.

I have used that same setup for my last 4 bikes, BMW, Super Tenere, Africa Twin and the KTM. This is the only setup that have WORKED for me.

If you dont want to use it for some reason, rough tracks,,,, , just slide it off, takes about 10 seconds.

^^^Did, functionally, the same thing on my old 990 Adv. Aeroflow screen chopped level with the stock screen and topped with an xcreen sport deflector. Clean, quiet air. Looks better than it sounds and I didn’t have to remove it.

I used to have the 990 to, both the S and normal version. Tried all kind of shields but never a shield in front of a shield like I now do with all my bikes. Hated the buffeting and noise, I didn´t know then about the airflow shield from givi. Wish I did, I found it unbearable to ride that bike for any distance bc of the noise and buffeting.

So that is this setup with an additional wind deflector? http://giviusa.com/my-motorcycle/ktm/790-adventure-19-20/af7710-specific-screen-detail How is it without the extra deflector?

I've sold several bikes along the way because I wasn't able to fix the wind noise. It doesn't bother some people, apparently. Drives me nuts.

I’ll have to remove the front fender as I suspect it to have a effect on the buffeting.
