I don't know why sometimes Tapatalk doesn't let me upload pics. See now:

Riding offroad I love the lowest position.
This is only a prototype, they are working to improve it

    I tried something new yesterday
    IMG_3110.jpg

It’s just a folded cardboard from a frozen pizza. Fixed between the handle bar holders.

I drove like this up to 150kph. With the wings mounted it reduced turbulence a by around 20%.
Without the wings the effect wasn’t that big.

    So I apologize:
removing the wings reduces the buffeting significantly.

    But:
Without the wings the turbulences aren’t so concentrated in one spot (buffeting) but the over all area around my head is much noisier.
That’s too much for me for 6hrs highway ride even tough I only ride with -19db earplugs. Moving my butt 10cm in the air gives me so sweet clean air.

One day maybe I’ll get that also while sitting.

    Thanks for the info @floalex!

When you say "wings" do you mean the plastic deflectors below the dashboard and headlight?

Moving this windshield question out of the hand guard thread...

@RedRyder1972 This windscreen extension is available on Amazon (Motoparty Motorcycle Windshield Extension). I move it forward and up when riding over 50mph - I rarely get buffeting at highway speeds w/ this windscreen but buffeting still happens on occasion. I like that it provides more wind protection on long trips. I'm still looking for a better windscreen solution but for $40, this is a good temporary solution for me (I'm 6'2", 34" inseam, and I ride with a Bell MX-9 ADV helmet, brim is in the lower setting).

    Well, I think so.
Someone created the term a few pages back. I was confused at first too.

I’ve used Givi Airflow windshields on two previous bikes with great results, so I was ecstatic when my Airflow finally arrived today! Mounted it up and went for a test ride and... almost no improvement over the KTM part. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

I realized that it was sloped at a much more shallow angle than on my previous bikes, so I made up a couple of 1.5” spacers to move the upper mounting points forward and give it a steeper angle. Much better!

Still some buffeting at highway speed, so I’m going to keep experimenting to figure out where that’s coming from.

Umm, no... just trying to get the wind up and over my head so I can ride with my visor open.

My 790R was delivered today, put 75 miles on it and didn’t notice any issue with the wind but I’m also coming from a naked Buell. I have an Arai XD4 and it wasn’t bad at all, could turn my head side to side without it trying to wip my head around, Zero buffeting, wonder its this isn’t more of a helmet issue then a windscreen issue?

Disappointing on so many levels. Sorry to hear that.

I sourced an R screen for my bike and had it out today. Not much difference between high and low positions. Not much buffeting at all. Better than the S screen IMHO, and I can definitely live with it in that regard. The wind noise is another story. It still howls. Standing is bliss. Beautifully clean quiet air. I can actually hear the engine,.....:(

What's the reason / need to ride with visor open?.. At what speeds?
