I added a Booster Plug to mine and it fixed the starting issue and smoothed low throttle

I guess I will try the Booster Plug from my 1290. I think the connectors are the same. Will report back either way.

This morning mine lit off and stayed running first button push, without touching the throttle. Normally I have to give it a little throttle to stay running for the first few seconds.

Well, the latest bikes coming out now are Euro 5 compliant, not Euro 6 and plenty of these bikes from other manufacturers have no problems starting when cold, so nothing at all to do with meeting the latest emissions standards.

Fitted the Booster plug and she fired up first time. Pulls much better from low RPM’s. Well worth the cost.

I'm not ordering no booster plug (I'm not even sure what it is). We shouldn't have to spend $160 of our hard earned money to fix a problem that KTM should fix.

That’s understandable but it also improves the throttle response at low rpm’s.
The fact that it solves the starting issue is a bonus. I still plan on getting KTM to look at the starting issue.
I plan on disconnecting the booster plug during the week to see if the starting issue returns.

Mine was at the dealer for 7 days, they could only get it to start/die 1 time in 6 cold start
tries. It starts perfectly when warm.
I wanted the bike back for a trip. Dealer advised waiting for a KTM fix.
I really do think it starts better with non-ethanol fuel. When it was at the dealer
the tank was about half and half with non-ethanol fuel.
Not a deal breaker for me att. Dealer did send a msg to KTM about this condition.
Bike still makes me want to ride it like no other.

Same for me--great starting record at the dealer on two occasions. Yet in my garage, 6 of 6 times the bike died on first 3 attempts to start. Dealer kept the bike a long time work no word on a potential fix. I picked it back up so I wouldn't miss riding weather. Looking forward to hearing more booster plug operating experience.

In my garage yesterday it took 4 attempts. Mind you I'm in Houston where it's still 97 so that engine isn't too cold

Will update on the booster plug next week.

I haven’t had that problem at all and it starts fine the first time. I’m in Sweden and it’s getting cold here. We have 95 octane here though.

I’m not sure the temperature has much to do with it. It seems more like the first start of the day than a cold engine to me. Before I fitted the booster plug it was always the first start of the day, my bike is always in a garage and the temperature seldom drops below 15C here. I had the issues even when the temperature was in the mid twenties.

Mine started on the first try this morning. Those of you having problems, are you just giving the start button a quick press? Or are you holding it, even for a second?
