How much do the tanks hold?

    Where can we get them?

When will KTM offer tanks for the LC8?

i have the tanks that are on this bike in my possesion and can part numbers to any that want to fabricate them to fit ....... reality is that you will not be able to adjust your rear shock without removing the seat and the tanks are off a 660 rallye so modification will be intense ... im sending the rtanks back next week to sommer

Do you guys think that if we all send some interest letters to touratech, sommer or some other, would them be able to force his special fuel tanks provider to built rear tanks for LC8????

Thinking on exotic or long dessert trips, imagine two 12 lt rear tanks like seen in those lc4 sample adaptation, means 44 lts. then you can add soft panniers if travelling.

Will be then necesary to demand also to them a special exahust kind of meoni´s one.

Why the hell we can not access to these accessories?????

Please, lets´s move, maybe with several orders they will answer to our demands.

Cool tanks. I bet it affects the handling noticeably when they're full. That much weight that far removed from the CG will make it flick "funny". But when you need it, you gotta have it, I suppose...

Why 2-1 exhaust? Twins breathe better with 2-1-2 piping, plus twin pipes are better weight-balanced and are not much heavier than one big one.

I have those exact rear tanks on my 00 KTM 660 Rallye.
I think Acerbis made those tanks, they hold approx. 3 gal. each side.
The bike does not handle all that different on pavement when the tanks are full, but it does make the rear end sink down about 4 inch lowers the seat height quite a bit. I have not taken the bike off road with full rear tanks, not even full front tank.
I would be able to offer my set of rear tank for prototype purpose if we can get a manufacturer to agree to fabricate these puppies.
They sure look cool on the bike.

Not necessarily. Depends on what your goal is. For top-end power a 2-in-2 exhaust is better but a good 2-in-1 fattens up torque and midrange power. And is lighter. That's why the factory LC8 Dakar bikes have a 2-in-1 Akra system too.

I think the reason that we as ordinary mortals can't buy the stuff from the factory Rally bikes is that it just won't fit straight on a production bike. And second, for a manufacturer like KTM developing special parts for production bikes requires a certain volume likely to be sold to pay for the developement, marketing, distribution etc. and still make a buck or two.
