This thing looks almost ready for production. Which means at least 18 months to 2 years away for an 800ADV. I better start saving now, fuck it's going to be a long wait. 90-100hp, <200kgs, min. 20L fuel, quality 1190R suspension and NO fancy electrickery doodads if that's ok thanks Mr Peirer. Now, which one of those requirements will I actually get?
The 2 year wait…… ..before KTM tell us they have no intension of doing an Adventure model with this engine.
There are some unpleasant things in those photos (cable clutch and other cheap stuff) that are quite un-characteristic for KTM. The article, however, seems to imply Austrian manufacturing, not Indian. On the other hand, the bike seems very compact and small, almost like a 690. If they DO make an Adventure on this chassis, it's gonna be interesting.
This motor is designed by Kurt Trieb in Mattighofen. The engine will be built at the engine plant of KTM in Munderfing.
At 26.08.2015 there are also pictures on MCN of the KTM Duke 800. This here is the new Husqvarna 701 Enduro.
What?....you take the 1190 you replace the rear shock, re-spring and revalve the front, call it $2500.00 and the suspension is pretty good...hahaha
