SAN DIEGO – A 57-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after he
struck the side of a sedan that may have run a red light in Linda Vista,
    police said.

The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital
shortly after the accident, which occurred around 7:36 a.m. at the
intersection of Linda Vista Road and Kramer Street.

Police said the man was riding a 2006 KTM motorcycle southbound on Linda
Vista Road when he struck the driver's side rear door of a 2006 Toyota
Corolla driven by a 20-year-old pregnant woman.

The woman was driving eastbound on Kramer Street, preparing to turn north
onto Linda Vista, when she apparently ran the red light, said Sgt. Jeff
Fellows. The sun may have been in her eyes, he said.

The motorcyclist hit the car as he was going through the intersection on a
green light. He was wearing a helmet and was not speeding, Fellows said.

Three children, ages 5, 6, and 9, also were in the car, as was a 76-year-old
woman, police said. In addition to the motorcyclist, the children and the
two women were transported to the hospital, San Diego Fire-Rescue
Department spokesman Maurice Luque said. Police said they suffered minor
    bumps and scrapes.

Then I read this on a local News Channel's website (www.kgtv.com)

    http://www.10news.com/news/16901193/detail.html

No mention on the motorcyclist (or the fact that he DIED)

Yet another local news channel (www.nbc739.com) actually covered it-- and some pictures of the bike. 450?? Looks like a new bike, no plate... RIP.

We here at Sempra are very sad since it touches us in a personal level. I have know Dennis for 3 years and his daughter for 5 years. They both work at Sempra. Dennis rode almost everyday to work and was a great person.

Thanks for all your thoughts, I will make sure to let the family know that you are thinking of them, and point them to this thread.

    Hey guys,

I don't post on here very much but I thought I would chime in to say that Dennis will be dearly missed. I ride my Tiger into work every morning and I usually got to work the same time as Dennis. He and I would chat quite a bit about the usual bike stuff. I am in complete shock that this happened as Dennis was a very safe rider. From the article and news around the office I see that Dennis was unlucky to have a vehicle run a red light in front of him and he had no where to go.

My condolences to Dennis's family and friends. Please take a moment of silence today for another one of our fallen riders.

    Goodbye my friend.

i considered myself a very safe rider expecting ever car to pull out in front of me. my greatest fear is that this rider was just like me and it still didn't help.

    RIP:cry

Same here. You never know when your number is going to come up. All you can do, if you have biking in your system, is to try to improve your chances by being alert, dressing right and being careful. Looks like Dennis did all he could, and it is very sad he was taken from us. The age-old question - why do bad things happen to good (and cautious) people? Because they can.

My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Although I never met him, I certainly know the username and have exchanged messages on this forum. My blood ran cold when I realised this. Needless to say, my condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Please post more info regarding this accident, memorial service, etc. I would also like his full name if you are comfortable giving it. I used to work at Sempra.

    Thanks,

Dennis joined up in January and started adding value right away. To put it bluntly, guys like him are why ADVrider was founded.

Wish I could have known you. RIP, Dennis.
