I only recently learned about the soon-coming 1290 SD GT.

My understanding from the spy shots is: SDR + wind and bags, likely +cruise.

If it comes out that way and i can tolerate the riding position, it'll be game-on pretty quick for me, so long as they don't de-tune it.

Right there with you! I REALLY like the 1190 ADV and am wanting one bad but I kind of want to wait to see what the 1290SDGT is going to be all about.

Pretty sure its going to be a Super Duke with a bikini fairing, at least that is what the spy shot appeared to be.

Believe this bike, and thread is best served over in Road Warriors. With the little info leaked thus far, I don't see but maybe .1% of folks taking this thing off road.... It's nowhere near the Adv class except the same motor. I got my SDR in a tiny bit of sand and about crapped my pants a couple weeks ago.

Yeah the most dirt my SDR has seen is the overlook at the corner on the Mulholland.

this is turning into a great segment -- I'm just waiting for Aprilia to come up with a "touring Tuono"

+1 A Futura for the times.

Wasn't it just a few minutes ago that people wrote off the sport-touring segment?

6+ gallon gas tank should make people happy. Even my 1290 with no wind screen is pretty comfortable for longer rides. Should be a nice mile eating bike!

More bike makers need to do this. This is looking like the sport touring bike most people want (like me!) with an emphasis on the sport and a nice, large gas tank. I'm tired of getting around 120/130 miles to a tank with barely a 4.5 gallon capacity and no reasonable options for larger tanks. I long for a sport bike that can get at least 200 miles to the tank and be comfortable to ride for that mileage without doing major modifications to it. The SDGT sounds like exactly what I am looking for in a bike.

...and not weight 600lbs and have a windshield the size of a Miata. Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for too.

My 15 year old VFR does all that.

I'd think that is just a prototype paint job? Because I agree, its a pretty darn horrid paint job.

Sure, I bet it does. Except the lack of active suspension, drive modes, standard traction control, 180hp and having 15 year old technology. The VFR is a great bike, don't get me wrong, but I'm not looking for a 15 year old bike.
