will be presented in italy first week of july....
Any word on the rim quality?....
It would be something new & a major improvement worth the presentation!
Fantastico ! I'm waiting and I'm almost done with the seats btw!
What ''SEATS'', Btw?
We (anxiously) await your update!
O.K. I'll start a new thread on the seats, I've been procrastinating lately because it's difficult getting around while trying to recover fully from my accident, that and being Mr.Mom with a 5 month old.
When my wife gets home I'm like
I'm betting the rumor about the $2K price increase will be true, but there will also be major changes, including fuel-injection.
My dealer says increase is correct and you "free" get bags included. He didn't say anything about fuel injection. I doubt since would require major re-work on a new model.
Well, it isn't THAT new and there are lots of signs on the bike that FI was intended from the get-go. If this bike is going to persist beyond another couple years, FI is necessary to meet tightening emission regs.
I think we have enough info that the price increase is for real and I just can't see them raising the price $2K for an unchanged bike. But a $2K increase with the FI makes some sense. If they were leaving it unchanged, I'd expect perhaps a $500-$800 increase for the 2005's, then the big jump with the FI'ed 2006 models. Remember, this is the bike that KTM felt like they had to incent this spring with free bags and centerstand. This doesn't smack of a bike that can stand a $2K bump unchanged without sales going into the toilet. KTM isn't stupid.
Having said all this, I have no hard info - just reading the tea leaves.
Between lackluster USA sales for the 950, horrible exchange rates, overtaxed production facilities, and RFS that are selling like hotcakes. I believe KTM is doing the smart thing, pullback, raise prices, but keep a presence for the 950 in case things turnaround. I bet KTM went nuts at first, tons of great press, yet it seemed all anyone wanted to talk about were hard seats, in spite of glowing reviews it does not sell that well, and to top it off many dealers do not seem to want anything to do with the bike.
Expect all Euro bikes to carry significant increases for 2005 based on devaluation of the US dollar in 2004. Changes to bike won't be req'd to justify cost increase. Additionally, steel and some other materials have seen major cost increases in the last 120 days on the world market.
The steel increase is a big deal But not 2000 I bought a new Pettibone fork lift last year for around 85,000 I ordered another one this year it went up to 91,000 due to steel believe me there is a lot more steel in a forklift, but it is a part of the increase. a 50LB box of nails went up $4
The 05 950s will be the same as the 04s. Not much in the way of technical changes. You'll see some small technical changes on later realesed Euro models. But not much anyway in terms of performance or reliability. The bikes been pretty rock solid in those areas. Color options orange and black. Price increase, yes, but there's no way around the exchange rate. The increased cost will be offset by the luggage cases as standard equipment.
P.S.: I've logged close to 15,000 miles on my Adventure. Raced it at Elsinore GP. and preran the Baja 1000 on it last year. 85% of the miles have been off-road. It wasn't babied much for sure. Aside from normal service, the bikes been trouble-free. I'm really amazed at how well it holds up no matter how hard you hammer it!
I didn't see any other 950 other than Scott Hardens and mine at Elsinore, which race did you do? It couldn't of been the Mushman?
If you look at Roaring Horses profile you will see that he is Scott Harden
Thanks Greg! He must of changed his user name because he was registered as Scott Harden before. My bad for not looking, Hi Scott

Racing 950s! Your both warped in the head. What next, loading panniers up with beer cans, to lighten that front end?
So is it true the S model will not be made anymore?
